"Hidden Gem & It is the home away from home."

I always read the reviews before checking things out. A few years ago we had a terrible incident at another hotel so we were trying to find a very good place to stay. The one thing I see a lot of in MB is that a lot of hotels the rooms are privately owned, so it is a gamble on what your room would look like. Everything looks so wonderful here. I will say it does look a little outdated and not as crisp as a lot of places are leaning for these days. The beds are comfy. The furniture is okay. The kitchen is small, but it gives you that home away from home feel. I would live here. That's how satisfied I am of this place. It's clean. It's functional. It's perfect. 🖤

We loved the unit and the amenities. However, the parking garage was challenging. We could drive up to our floor but the garage was narrow and scary with oncoming traffic. Also, it made me carsick going to the 5th floor. I would not stay again due to the parking.

The resort would have received five stars from me, but the horrible customer service I received in the restaurant prevented that from happening. I will get to that later in my review. We are going to focus on the good things. This was my first time staying at the resort, and it will not be my last!! I absolutely LOVED this resort!!! Shortly after I booked my trip, I had to modify my stay. I called and spoke with Jen, and she made the magic happen! I requested a high floor suite. She explained that she could not guarantee the high floor, but the resort would do their best. When I arrived, the front desk agent, Jacarra, checked me in. She provided top-notch customer service! I was treated like I was a long-time established customer. I was given a gift card for the restaurant, which was a very pleasant surprise. I had to wait just a few minutes for my suite because it was still being cleaned. Jacarra apologized for the wait. I checked in a little early, so I was prepared for that to possibly happen. Now on to the suite.. I stayed in PH02. During my ride up on the elevator, two guests got on a few floors up and noticed what floor I was going to. They said "Oh you're going to the Penthouse floor." I was clueless because I wasn't aware that the PH meant Penthouse. They continued and said, "We're coming with you!!" We all laughed, and they said,"Enjoy your stay!". I got to my suite, which was at the end of the hallway, and when I entered, it took my breath away. The suite was absolutely beautiful!!! The kitchen had every gadget and small appliance that you could think of!! I also had a jacuzzi tub in the master bathroom that was sooooo relaxing! The view was out of this world!!! I loved the fact that I could walk onto the balcony from the master bedroom. The suite would be perfect for a family getaway. The balcony was huge with plenty of chairs and tables. There was a brand new washer and dryer in the suite, too. Now, onto the unpleasant portion of my stay... I decided to use my gift card for the restaurant to get breakfast on the first morning of my stay. I ordered the sweet potato pancakes & the huevos rancheros with no peppers or onions in the home fries. I have a very high onion allergy. When I picked up my order, the customer service was great. However, when I called back because there was a very important and scary issue with my order, the way it was handled is where things went left, and the five-star rating was lost. I was eating the home fries and noticed that there were onions in them after I specifically said no onions. Thankfully, I had my allergy medication with me. I also noticed that the packet of sour cream that I was given for the huevos rancheros was expired. I called and spoke with a woman just to let her know of the errors with my order and to ask them to be careful because food allergies are extremely important. While I was talking, I explained to the woman that I stressed no peppers or onions in my home fries. She rudely interrupted me and said, "We don't put peppers in our home fries." I did not know that. Then she proceeded to say, "So you want new potatoes?" I said, 'No, I don't want a new order, I just wanted to make someone aware and to ask them to be careful." She rudely interrupted me AGAIN and said, "Oh, we're NOT giving you a whole new order!" Again, I never asked for one. She didn't apologize, and when I told her about the sour cream, she said "Oh I'll check the box in the cooler." Still, no apology. I got frustrated and just hung up. I went down to the front desk to make them aware of what had just happened and to check the dates of availability for a future stay, and Lauren helped me. She was so sweet and apologized profusely for my experience with the restaurant. She offered to give me another gift card, which I politely declined. One bad experience was enough for me. By the way, the sweet potato pancakes were awful. They had absolutely no flavor, and they were rubbery. The check out process was a breeze. The general manager even thanked me for my stay and asked me to come back for another stay. I can't wait to go back!! And to Jaime in the restaurant, you cost the resort a five-star review from me. Be kinder next time and put yourself in the customer's shoes. Food allergies are nothing to take lightly.

I love everything about Island Vista! The resort is beautiful and very comfortable! The decks are big and have amazing ocean views. The staff is so friendly and somehow even the other guests are so friendly. I stayed during September so crowding was not an issue. The pools and hot tub were great, especially during the evening when we choose to really relax after being out and about during the day. I hope this place stays open forever. They have it figured out!
