Perfect location. Comfortable bed and very warm.

We walked in & then walked out - it was that bad !

Location

It was EXTREMELY unclean and not maintained. While we understand it was a historic cottage there is no excuse to be renting out a place that is not looked after. It has rotten floor boards, mould in the bathroom, windows that had been taped up. There was grass and plants growing through the door, the windows/doors weren’t sealed so during the night the blinds constantly banged. Washing machine was dirty ect Was extremely disappointing - it could and should be a beautiful cottage. We had actually messaged the owners in advance after seeing recent reviews to ask if it would be cleaned prior to our arrival and they assured us it would. Very disappointed.

Beautiful location. Stunning views. Quaint and cosy.

Staff were somewhat difficult to contact. Once contacted, they were apologetic and very responsive to our concerns. The heating and cooking plate were difficult to work out but eventually, the staff got things going.The staff didn't seem to be knowledgeable about the cottage equipment and how some things worked, and we had no instructions to follow ourselves.

The location.

The single bed wasn't made up. There were 3 of us. There were only 2 towels. There was black mould around the outside bottom of the shower, and it also wasn't draining properly. One of the crockery plates was cracked.

The location was good being near the lake, although the cottage is tucked away behind the main house, so there are no views of the lake from the cottage itself. The bed was comfy, and there was hot water for showering and a heater and A/C, which was appreciated and about the only good thing that we can say, unfortunately. The cottage was quite dusty and we did not use the kettle due to how dirty it was. One of our bath towels was quite old being thin and frayed on the edges. We couldn't wait to get back on the road again and move to our next location, unfortunately.
