Kempies-Cozy house on the NC500

This house was indeed cosy. We arrived to a delightful house, beautifully warmed and spacious. The kitchen was excellent and they generously allowed us to wash some clothes. The village it is a part of is very interesting and the location of Balnakiel beach is excellent. We thoroughly recommend this property when travelling the NC 500.

We liked the property inside very quite and comfortable, it had what we needed ,easy to find and short walk to a brilliant beach

The so called craft village ,we was just looking at a very messy area and garage ,wasn't expecting it

You could walk to beach with amazing views and a lake

The surrounding site the home was on was a bit run down in places .

Die Lage des Hauses und der vorhandene Parkplatz war genial. Fusßäufig ( 1 km ) befindet sich ein Sandstrand.

Environnement atypique

The location was near beautiful beaches and Durness is a good stop off point on the NC500. Loved watchng the rabbits and birds in the area surrounding the property.

The place was far from cosy, interior walls left unpainted, projects half finished, heating didn't work so no hot water either, we had to boil the kettle to do the dishes. The whole house had a horrible smell like you get in a mechanics workshop so it felt dirty. No fresh smell on the bed linen and the toiletries/ tea/ coffee etc were all cheap. There was an electric shower that worked and there were individual heaters in the rooms so we could keep warm but this was the worst property we've ever stayed in and we are not fussy. The price was not cheap either and there was no food provided as it was self catering, our b&bs have been far better value. I can't understand how Booking.com are even showing this property to be honest, I would have expected a better standard.

The central heating was a challenge managed to get 2 radiators working but we were all tired so went to bed early. Hosts left porridge to make in microwave but no bowls to use in microwave. Used bowls form cupboard and got burnt due to metal rim but very welcome as we had every season thrown at us every day. Followed by Storm Dave.

The whole set up, parking, rooms, views and hosts were all excellent. Breakfast was outstanding, the cost was high but then all of this part of Scotland is similar so overall a great place to stay and i would heartily recommend.

Please clean your cooker hood. Everything else is lovely
