Kempies-Cozy house on the NC500

It was clean, the tea was yummy, it was cute.

The house is simply amazing, the place left us speechless. We arrived late in the evening, it was completely dark a part from the house that was warm with lights on. (We got scared by the hunted house nearby while out for a quick photoshoot in the night but this is what it’s supposed to do). You’ll find everything you need in the house, fast WiFi, extra warm blankets for the cold season. We woke up the next morning discovering the stunning surroundings in the sunrise light. I would definitely recommend a stay if staying or just driving by Durness. We are definitely looking for a longer stay maybe in spring or summer.

Our ferry got delayed from the Orkney because of the storm. I let the host know that we'd be arriving about 10pm and right away he said he'll prepare some food for us and I really appreciated it. I noticed the damp smell but I was expecting that as I see in other reviews but we were only staying for a night so it wasn't an issue. I also see people said that they didnt like it amd the property is next to haunted house but I'm loving it! How many times do you go on a trip and could tell people you stayed next to a huanted house? I've travelled the world and this is going to be the first time EVER! The property was clean, the instruction that we were given was cleared. It's well worth the money.

La maison elle-même, tout confort: chauffage au top, eau chaude nickel, tres propre et confortable. Phillip nous a gentiment aidé à déneiger la sortie du parking, 50 mètres ! Super machine à laver avec séchoir intégré. Très silencieux, proche de départ de rando ( kelgonan) et d'une magnifique plage. Cuisine très bien équipé sauf...

Il manque des bols !( soupe, porridge,...) 130€ la nuit est un tarif correct en été car en plein dans un village des artistes, pub ouvert, on peut rouler et atteindre le ben hope. En hiver, c'est un peu cher car tout était fermé et il n'y avait pas foule niveau tourisme ! Environnement immédiat pas beau: une sorte de garage avec des pneus partout et on ́ne voit pas la nature.

no hot water, no real heating, damp and smelly, bare plastering on walls in some rooms. the manager did send us a message re heating and hot water, the day of arrival/ the day before, informing us of the situation. However, this then did not allow me to choose an alternative accomodation. When we arrived there was a laminated sheet explaining the hot water and heating situation, so clearly this has been more than a one or two days problem, as this was a very well used and handled laminate. clearly the description of the place does not actually match the property, we really did come very close to walking away and finding an alternative somewhere/ anywhere other than what was on offer. But I am in ill health with terminal cancer, so don't really need the hassle, medication and bed was my immediate agenda. The outside of the property and surrounds resembled a car breakers yard, tyres everywhere, cars in various states of repair/dismantling, disgusting. it is without doubt the WORST place I have ever booked with Booking. com. I am seriously considering never using booking. com again, the monitoring system is clearly, clearly not working. I will be looking for a full refund and compensation for this utter rubbish, My only regret is, I did not take any photos/video as proof. had I done so I would posted it on FB on some form of media, telling people not to book. This was probably down to my/our shock and my need to rest. come on booking. com your better than this.
