Robin's Den - Whitby

Great location for us, very close to a wedding venue we were attending. Comfy main bed and black out blinds were brilliant! Lovely lounge / kitchen area and great to have 2 toilets! Nice shower. Easy check in and responsive host.

Very minor cleanliness issues (rubbish left under a bed). Would suggest putting a rail / hook up at the side of the basin for a hand towel 😊 Extractor fan very noisy after a few minutes, but easy to turn off when not required. Bathroom and bedroom ceilings are partially angled so just be aware taller people! Although you can stand up fully in the shower and get into beds due to how they're positioned thankfully!

I booked this accommodation back in August 2024 and had been somewhat worried about some of the recent feedback given to the property. I needn't have been concerned as the property was pretty much as I had expected it to be, yes the paintwork might be in need of a freshen up here and there, but overall I found it to be a pleasant little cottage and fitting of the needs of our two night stay. Even had a nice little wine cooler cabinet to help chill our bubbly. Oh, and for those who seem to have been pre possessed by the presence of a spoon in the front driveway, it now appears to have been removed 😁

Driveway couldn't accommodate more than one vehicle and the nearby neighbours seemed very active in preventing any vehicles being parked in the lane accessing the property.

Lots of nice little touches that made it feel welcoming. There was brew things there when we arrived. Was games and dvds. Sofa were comfy and house was clean. This is our second time using Robins den. Nice house and parking. Great location.

Overall cleanliness and a stale odour to the property plaster/paint falling down, blocked bathroom sink cobweb and spiders in all rooms, top of hanging rail (in main bedroom) covered in thick dust/grime. The oven still had bits of pizza crust at the bottom. The main bed was small and the mattress cheap with little support, children's. beds were nearly falling apart at the joints. Vertical blind just about operated after support to the fittings was applied. This property could be very nice if the owners were to put their hands in the pockets and carry out the necessary repairs and a lick of paint. They say a photo does not lie, well the photos shown on the booking sites are probably the originals from when it was first advertised for holiday let. Please see other review sites (trip adviser)

Clean and comfortable

A little bit to far from the centre of Whitby

For the area that it is in, it is a spacious property with a drive for parking. Less than 1 mile away from Whitby centre. It's good that it allows a dog.

Wasn't overly dog friendly with the mess debris that hasn't been cleaned up outside. There was a rusty sweeping brush and pieces of broken wood which could have splintered the dog or us if stept on. Reading previous reviews about a spoon being outside on the floor it is still there. The property was not cleaned properly before our arrival, there's a lot of dust, cobwebs, spiders and fly’s. Not good for allergies. During our stay we reported that the shower in the main bathroom leaked into the downstairs toilet, we were told that this hadn't been reported previously although upon researching reviews we found that it had in fact been reported previously. There is a fair bit of water damage that you can tell has been apparent for quite a while. This property is in much need of love and attention to rectify these issues.

Close to Whitby, own parking space,pet friendly

Check in was not till 4 so would expect it clean- was not! Dirty ,dead flies, dusty, broken blinds, ceiling stains from leaking bathroom, entrance messy(months worth of mess) Cupboard doors broken. Dirty kitchen drawers, work tops, kettle, oven, iced up freezer, clogged vulux windows unable to open so hot in bedroom. Called the company managing property for the host to give the oppurtunity to fix.. we had to wait till 6 for the cleaner to come and sit and wait for them to clean before we could unpack. The broken blind giving my children no privacy had to be fixed the next day was advised the host was told about this in the morning so why was it not fixed? we had to allow someone to fix next day when we were out and put a towel up that night. We was offered £100 off our first night if we did not leave a review-cheek or take a full refund but leave now- with a 5hour car journey back home as nowhere nesr by available with pets acceptance.You can not buy freedom of speech, not to leave a review and inform others! Looking at previous reviews teaspoon in front garden(still there)months worth of leaves clogged up (not just a sea breeze !)windows, general maintence on this property has been there for months and no time or money has been done to make this any better, but still taking bookings ! As for thr cleaning ... no excuses ,why do we strip the beds and leave it tidy and no check in till 4pm if cleaning is not being done or maintenance? Its a shame as this looks a lovely property in the pics amd a good location. Personally the company need to take this property off their books as they are taking the flack for a host who wants to reep the benefits from a property they are putting no time into and ripping holiday makers off with. Would we return sadly not!

The size of the property was good and the downstairs toilet was a plus. Generally had everything in the kitchen we needed. The tea and coffee were useful … fresh milk would have been a nice touch as would decaf coffee …but not a showstopper.

The property is quite tired in places and externals need a good clean … first impressions around the front door and courtyard were not great … rubbish, a teaspoon and the front door and doorstep needed a good clean, as did the windows in the property …. When I opened the windows in the main bedroom lots of cobwebs and leaves present … just needs a quick wipe over. Sofas not very comfy, not made for relaxing on !
