Guest house "NIKA", Nukus

Cheap and clean, nice breakfast.

The owners igored me and had me waiting outside for like 15 minutes before they let me in. Only one of the family members speaks English and she wasn’t present.

The daughter of the owner speaks English well, in case you don’t speak Russian with the rest of the family. I stayed in a beautiful yurta in the yard: it was decorated with all the traditional stuff and I enjoyed a lot despite the downsides of staying in a tent and with some farm animals in the enclosure in the rear garden. The kitchen has a fridge, Wi-Fi works well and toilet and shower were in the main building.

The position is not great: I mean, Nukus is a small town so you can go everywhere on foot (and that is what I literally did both from the airport and to the train station) and there is a marschrutka stop just next to the guesthouse (although I recommend to walk), but still it would have been better if it were more central. Also, it has to be mentioned that staying a yurta is not for everyone: although in this case there are normal beds instead of the futon-like mattresses, it is still a tent and not a proper room (I enjoyed, but it doesn’t fit everybody). In addition, it would have been better if it were possible to pay by card (through Booking.com if not with a POS), although we solved with euros in a fair way.

I stayed in the yurt. There were no locks and someone walked into my yurt in the middle of the night while I was sleeping. WiFi did not work well but especially didn’t work outside.

Very friendly family atmosphere is nice and pride is good . Location is central , they have an option for a Yurt or normal rooms , most rooms have air-conditioning including the yurt. The family gave me free meals twice over my stay which I thought was really kind . If you have translation issues they call their family member on the phone who speaks very good English so I didn't have any major language issues .

Location on the map sends you to a hostel location 1 min down the road so something to be aware of . ( This could be a map specific issue though I only used Google, definitely a minor issue)

Room was comfortable.

Never in my life has anyone treated me more disrespectfully in any accommodation facility before like a member of this family during my stay. And I can say I travel a lot, I've stayed in hundreds of accommodations in my life. And I didnt use to give bad reviews to accomodations so far. My bad impression started as soon as I arrived at the accommodation in the morning after a very tiring 12 hour train journey through the desert. It was already a normal day, not early morning. A yawning girl came to open the main door to show me how I disturbed her while she was sleeping. But the worst experience happened the second evening, when another young girl in glasses treated me in an extremely superior and directive manner when she needed to make  registration due to the Uzbek system with my passport. This girl even aggressively grabbed my own phone out of my hand while I was waiting for the loading one page with local currency. In this accommodation, apparently certain family members do not realize that the guest is not their enemy or someone who disturb them, but a person who contributes to a better standard of their living. Because of this I do not recommend staying here, this family doesnt deserve it. Better stay somewhere where they will treat you just normally. Uzbeks are generally one of the friendliest people in the world, but that cannot be said about this family. And this wasnt just my opinion, we agreed on this strange behavior and tactics with other guests as well.

Nice, clean comfortable accommodation.

We couldn’t get into the property on arrival as outdoor gate was locked. It opened eventually. Returning to the property after our day our was equally problematic. There was no one in the house except for another guest who went to fetch the hosts. I’m afraid accessibility is a big problem.

The yurt was an amazing experience. So cool, super clean, the AC and electricity working very well.

Only one bathroom (seems standard in Uzbekistan) but I didn't have a problem with this. Hard to find a restaurant or decent supermarket within walking distance (although not many options in Nukus as a whole)
