ARYA Sumba - Kodi Resort

I stayed at Arya Kodi Sumba Resort for 5 days, it was such a lovely and memorable experience. The place is super beautiful and has that calm, charming vibe. It’s really quiet and feels far away from busy life, which is exactly what I was looking for. The beach and sunset is amazing, the pool is nice, and there are fun activities like horse riding and canoeing. It’s the kind of place where you can just slow down and enjoy nature. What made the trip extra special was exploring around the area. The beaches are insanely beautiful, and visiting the traditional villages and caves made it feel like a proper adventure. Definitely one of the highlights. Also, shoutout to Ina from the restaurant team. She was always so friendly, checking in on us and giving great recommendations on where to go. You can tell she really cares. Honestly, she could be a role model for the newer staff. A few small things to improve: • The pool could use a bit more maintenance, there were some white residues and it got a bit slippery in places. • Mosquito service in the evening would be really helpful if it was provided by default. • The front desk team could be a bit more warm and proactive, Ina’s level of service would be perfect there too. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay. The place has a lot of potential, and I’d definitely recommend it if you’re looking for a peaceful getaway.

Nous avons tout aimé ! L’hôtel est génial et le personnel est aux petits soins ! La vue sur la piscine et la plage est incroyable ! La chambre était top ! La salle de bain en extérieur nous a finalement pas dérangé ! Il n’y avait pas d’insectes dérangeants ! Le restaurant est délicieux ! Ils savent adaptés les plats pour les végétariens ! La piscine est grande et il y a pleins d’endroits pour se poser ! C’est spacieux et nous nous sommes pas sentis à l’étroit avec les autres touristes. Le lieu est calme et les travaux du reste de l’hôtel n’ont pas fait beaucoup de bruit et ne sont pas apparent ! Nous tenons à remercier l’hôtel qui a tout fait pour nous recevoir plus tôt (à cause d’une arnaque de notre précédent hôtel) ! Aussi, la baignade avec les chevaux était mémorable ! Un grand merci pour cette belle expérience !

Seuls défauts: chambre peu lumineuse et odeur désagréable (de souffre) quand on allume la douche mais on s’y fait

The room with pool view makes you feel like you are staying in a very special place. Everything is spacious and very well decorated with the beautiful outside shower and bathroom. The bed is very comfy and you have everything you need in the room. The location in Kodi is excellent, very close to the 2 pasola events held in February in Bondo Kawango and in Nonton. The beach views are amazing from the restaurant and the spacious pool, also from the reception where there are two beautiful wooden horses as decoration. The staff at the hotel is very polite and helpful, everyone is smiling a lot and will pay attention that your stay is memorable. The breakfast is very good, I loved the option you have to take away for some of the food. The food in the restaurant is also very tasty, along with the drinks, special mention for the chachouka, the tuna tartar, the black rice pudding, the chai latte and the dragonfruit juice. I had the best holidays of my life there and it’s thanks to the great welcome of everyone at Arya. The cars are also very comfy and love it that this is a short ride to Cap Karoso spa but you can also visit Ratengaro easily. All the drivers are really friendly and you will be in a blink of an eye at the airport. Thank you so much for the Beautiful time in Kodi !

I would love to be able to visit the horses stable when I come back, even though they are still under construction. I am curious to meet the horse who traveled all the way from Czech Republic.

Stunning hotel in a gorgeous location right on the beach. Well appointed rooms with beautiful furnishings. The bed is not too big unfortunately so you must get along with your partner/friend! We loved the huge comfortable sitting areas by the pool. Wonderful for spending the whole day there, even when it rains. Every single member of the staff was excellent, truly kind and friendly. Hands down the best service we received in Sumba. Nothing was too much trouble. As the hotel is not yet 100% finished the value for money was exceptional. Don’t miss this opportunity when heading to Kodi.

The restaurant currently falls short of the standards set by the rest of the hotel. Understandably for such a remote island and location they struggle with ingredients (there was zero seafood except tuna throughout our stay and quite a few other ingredients missing as well), but the menu should therefore be more “logistics-proofed” and varied to avoid having 30% of it unavailable at any point. As a pescatarian the choices for me and my sister were insanely limited. The quality of the food is another issue, but the management was very receptive to feedback and it seems they know improvements are needed.
