Fantastic location. Amazing kitchen with everything you would need. Cozy front room with fire and lovely comfortable beds. Everything spotlessly clean.

Couldn't get shower to work but only a minor quibble as there was a nice bathtub.

A lovely, comfortable and well appointed cottage in the heart of Wivenhoe. We enjoyed the Queen themed decor, comfortable beds, thoughtful touches like a Welcome bottle of wine and fresh milk left for us. Tea, coffee and biscuits were also supplied and little chocolates on our beds and dotted around were a nice festive touch.

We had a bit of a problem getting the heating and gas fire going, but when we gave up and contacted the lovely owner Kate she popped round and sorted it out for us very quickly.

"A comfortable and cosy cottage within easy walking distance of most things lovely Wivenhoe has to offer"

8.0

Queens Cottage is a delightful quirky cottage which is full of tasteful and fun things which are relevant to the name of the property. Well equipped and helpful Host on hand to give immediate support when things don’t go quite right.

The stairs - for us - were a bit of a challenge!

"A lovely stay in a beautiful cottage, set in a pretty village!"

10.0

The cottage was spotless and very comfortable. They had provided everything you needed for a lovely stay. I want to especially mention the decor. The place is beautifully decorated, with exceptional attention to detail. You can tell the owner has a great eye for design. The chocolates were a lovely touch, as was the bottle of drink. I would highly recommend it for people visiting the area and would definitely stay again.

There wasn't anything I could fault. The only point, I would make and it's not a complaint or criticism, is that for anyone with mobility issues they may struggle to cope. There are a lot of steps and stairs in the cottage. The stairs leading to the bedrooms, are each very high - luckily the banister does provide support.

Everything was clean and ready for our stay. Basics for when we arrived, i.e., milk, coffee tea, etc, even ice in the freezer. Decor amazing.

Nothing suited our needs

"Comfortable, quirky, and cosy."

10.0

The beds were really really comfortable, as we're the sofas/chairs etc. The decor was quirky and fun - talk about leaning into the name of the cottage! All sorts of queens, from ERII to The Sex Pistols! It was ideally situated for the Wivenhoe Regatta - not so close that you have to deal with all the noise, cooking smells or people, but an easy walk to get to it. The little patio with comfy seats was very much appreciated in the heat! It was nice to sit outside late evening just enjoying the breeze. The cottage has great facilities, and everything is done to a high standard, within the quirky theme. The bedrooms were a good size, as was the kitchen. It was lovely to find a pint of milk in the fridge along with some Cava (thank you!), as everyone needs a cuppa on arrival. That was very thoughtful indeed.

The stairs were REALLY steep. I had to go up them on all fours, and come down on my bottom because I've had a stroke and am not particularly steady on my feet. My husband was fine with them, but my 70yo asthmatic mum struggled by the end of the day. Parking was a bit of a worry. In the information folder it says you can park outside the house, but there is a sign saying permit holders only. To play it on the safe side, we just parked on the gravel road round the corner. If you struggle with mobility issues, this is not the cottage for you, but for all able bodied people, I couldn't recommend it highly enough.
