Aqua Lodges at 47th Street

We had booked a two-bedroom bungalow on land, so after a 16-hour drive we arrived in Marathon really excited for our stay. When we went to the office to pick up the keys, we were told that it was not a bungalow, but a houseboat. This was a real issue for us, because I had specifically booked a bungalow knowing that I get seasick and that staying on a boat was simply not an option for me. Unfortunately, there was no bungalow available at that time, so we had no choice but to try to make it work. I took medication and hoped for the best, but sadly it did not help enough — I became quite sick on the houseboat. After two nights, we were finally relieved when a bungalow became available due to a cancellation and we were able to move. To be fair, if you enjoy houseboats, they are clean, nicely decorated, and well maintained. But the bungalows on land suited us much better. They are beautifully done, everything feels very new, and they still have that pleasant fresh wood smell. They are tastefully furnished, and unlike the boat, they also have a dining table inside as well as an outdoor bench and table, which made a big difference for us. The property itself is very cute, and we also liked that there are canoes available for guests to use. Just make sure to bring your own life jackets. Overall, we did end up enjoying our stay once we were moved, but I would strongly recommend that future guests confirm in advance whether they are actually booking a bungalow/house on land or a houseboat. If we ever come back, we will definitely call immediately after booking to make sure it is truly a land-based unit.

We were in cabin 5. If staying again I would prefer one of the cabins closer to the small dock for better views and with picnic table closer to the cabin

Very clean, cozy place. Convenient location for our trip down to Key West. Nice views from the water. It was a good size for two couples and could easily sleep more than 4 guests.
