The hotel has character and would have been good value given the generally careful service from most staff, as well as the location, had we not encountered problems. Breakfasts were nice.

Our suite had water dripping from the ceiling and upon telling staff about the leak and that some of our belongings got wet, the response was totally inadequate. They appeared to be aware of the problem but no change of room (we were offered a smaller room that didn't fit our family of 3 upon pushing) or offer to resolve the wet clothes. Upon pushing further, we were later offered a complimentary meal and a refund + relocation in a different hotel which we were happy to accept as the alternative was to cut the holiday short. However, we weren't able to make the most of the meal (not the fault of the hotel) and only a partial refund came through after several phone calls following the trip. In the end the leak was supposedly fixed so we didn't bother changing hotels but there appeared to be no understanding of the level of inconvenience caused given that we were staying there with our young child. In addition during our stay, we received unwelcome phone calls from the property manager asking us to return to the property to allow for maintenance and far too much information about the nature of the building's problems. Not a great long weekend break and we left feeling that we had wasted our precious holiday time and left feeling somewhat stressed from the experience so not the relaxing break it promised to be.

Absolutely beautiful hotel. I booked this for my partners birthday and we were blown away. The room itself was stunning, with a hydro tub in and they filled up for us whilst we were out for dinner so it was ready when we got back. They left a birthday card for him too and rose petals on the bed which was a lovely touch! Spotlessly clean and so welcoming and inviting! The staff were always on hand and couldn’t do enough for you. The spa was fabulous as well and very clean and looked after. Breakfast was also amazing and lots of it! This is such a rare gem and we will definitely be coming back!

The location is great central in the square. The team were all fantastic, words cannot describe them, attentive, professional and kind. The room was spacious and quirky.

The staff were amazing and gave us a pack lunch for breakfast. Couldn't be more helpful. The location was excellent and we got a deal through booking so very happy. Unbelievable room, very comfortable.

Lovely old character building. Staff were friendly and very helpful, explaining the air con and providing extra tea bags, cutlery etc. We had breakfast included and it was great, lots of options and left us feeling very full. The spa facilities were amazing, different areas for privacy, easy access and a nice place to relax. Great location right in the square with a lovely walk nearby.

Whilst there had been a lot of refurbishment done there were some areas that looked dated and tired. There was a lot of unnecessary mismatched furniture in the bedroom making it feel cluttered. Lack of hooks for towels and dressing gowns, and to be honest the TV was ridiculously large and did not compliment the room or character of the building.
