Tollgate House - Luxury Cozy Cottage - HUGE Hot Tub - Alton Towers

Hot tub was the major selling point for us, The hosts were great when we had to contact them due to a few issues, the property has a lot of potential however some areas do require attention.

Due to power issues before our stay both tvs were not working, thankfully our reason for booking were the outdoor facilities and luckily the weather was on our side so tv wasn't missed to much. Few points to be improved on which the hosts have been made aware of but overall very pleasant stay. And issues should be resolved before the next guests check in.

The noisy road to the front. No dishwasher. Need blinds rather than voiles to bedroom windows.

Location is great for Alton Towers. I would recommend getting to Alton towers at 9am because the walk to the entrance is pretty long and the traffic can get quite bad. We brought our own ice and coal however there was a little still there. There were plenty of cutlery and plates. The hot tub is huge and the table outside is great for playing board games on in the sun.

It wasn't the hosts fault, however the fridge was not operational which caused a lot of our meat to become spoiled. However, the host did refund the cost of most of the meat we had to throw away which is much appreciated. Like other reviews have mentioned, in certain rooms the noise of the traffic is quite noticeable when a large truck goes by. Their were earplugs provided.

I liked the hot tub, parking space, the views from the garden, the amenities in the house, the games available and the table decoration.

I didn’t particularly like the amount of contact and forms I had to fill out once I had arrived at my destination. I was unaware of what was to come and I didn’t feel very relaxed. The amount of messages I got about noise, checking out etc was quite unsettling. Although we weren’t going to be disrespectful regardless, having a camera in the garden very much feels an invasion of privacy. And there were ants in the house and kitchen cupboard.

I would highly recommend to anyone who is looking to stay in the area. We choose this house as a central location for our little holiday. The location is close to alton towers, supermarket was just down the road and a lovely little restaurant called the ship which has decent food at reasonable prices. The house is lovely inside/out and is well maintained. The hot tub is huge and easily seats 5 people with spare spaces. There was a slight problem were the previous guests had blocked the bins and they hadn't been emptied. The staff contacted us before hand to advise us of the problem this didn't affect our stay.

The road is quite busy and at times is hard to cross this may be difficult with small children.
