Clifford House - 4 Bed Home Within The City Walls

Loved the location. Only a 10 minute walk down to the Shambles and the city walls is only metres from the property. Our son also loved staying in the loft space. The outdoor sitting area was quite cute and would be nice to sit in during the warmer seasons. The street was also very quiet considering how close it was to the city, amd there were some friendly locals who were great.

Unfortunately the expectation of 2 bathrooms as advertised, was not met. The boost for hit water button sometimes needed pressing multiple times before the first shower of the day, but otherwise would provide hot water an hour after pressing it. The kitchen crockery and cutlery were greasy on arrival and a few maintenance items like the globe to access the outside toilet at night required replacing at the time. A few things to note at the time of our stay: - no freezer - challenging to dry clothes with no dryer and limited space to dry clothes on drying rack - pillows were all very flat. These have all been reported to the owner/manager via booking.com so hopefullly future guests may see improvements in these areas.

Second bathroom was actually just an outside toilet with basin. Bathroom door handle falling off. No loo roll or loo brush in the outside toilet.

Loved the house, so close to all bars and restaurants. Would definitely recommend

The location is great, central for all the attractions, shops restaurants and pubs in York.

It was advertised as 2 bathrooms. The second bathroom is an outside toilet, which was a nice outside toilet, but not that good for cold wet weather in January. It would have been nice to have some information in the house relating to how to use the radiators, oven etc but we sorted it so not a real problem

Location is good. House is clean and tidy

Disappointed that parking wasn’t included like booking.com advertised. It was expensive to park in the nearest car park - couple of mins walk away. Worked out about £30 for the night. Especially when Theres permit parking right outside the house. The host did let me know they hadn’t renewed the permit but it ended up working out a bit expensive for one night when you take into account the parking charges.

Location is good… accommodation is good enough for 8 people…also host responds was very quick…

House was quiet big and when I checked the prices cleaning fees £60…unfortunately bedding wasn’t changed and parking was only for permit holders that’s why please talk the host before you go…

Very well located property, with potential to be a great place to stay.

Property had not been cleaned since the previous occupants left, with rubbish left on the floor, dirty bedding on the beds, .... When I called the owner, someone was sent out. I gather that this was not the first time that the cleaners had failed to show up. The cleaner who came did a quick and cursory job, leaving the property poorly cleaned. By this stage it was time for the children to be going to bed, and too late to have cleaners come round (if they were even available) to do a proper clean. The host was initially unwilling to take ownership of the problem, but eventually agreed an appropriate level of rebate of the rental fee. We would far rather have paid what was agreed and had a clean property.
