1. This Edo period house has so much charm and the traditional garden was so calming. We cooked our meal and eat outside on the porch daily. We felt so regenerated and recharge after our stay! 2. The facility has all the amenities that you can cook a full meal in the house very comfortablely. This allowed us to try some local ingredients and make something new with them. It was fun! 3. The host was really friendly and tried his best to help us. Thank you for lending us your umbrellas, unfortunately, we left one behind in a shop. We asked how much it is to pay him back, but he refused said it was an old umbrella. 4. Location of the facility was in the middle of everything, so it was good for the Arita ceramics festival. However, because of the location and the main road blocked off for pedestrian walking, you have to walk between 10-15 min to the accomodation. Taxi was not allowed to drive on the main road from 0900 to 1700.

1. I wish the host would tell us to get off Kami-Arita Station as it is a closer walk to the house. Since we are not familiar with this town, we got off Arita and walked to the accomodation. The Kami-Arita Station would save us so time and energy to get to the accomodation. 2. The host informed us the road is closed off after 0930. So we got to the Arita Station at 0905, but the road closed already. In the end, we got on the local shuttle bus for 500 yen/person and dropped off to the closest part to the main street. We still have to walk for 15 minutes with all the luggages to the accomodation. If would be best if we know the road close off is 0900 instead of 0930. 3. This is a traditional Japanese house, so for guests who do like to have a bit of a chill best to bring long sleeves shirts. This is not a false of the accomodation, just to let guests know who have never stay in traditional Japanese houses before . 4. Also. All the shops and most restaurants shut down in Arita after 5 pm. So you either eat earlier or cook your own meals. This is a quiet town. It is good to relax and recharged.

"A rare gem"

10.0

It felt like a home. Immediately upon arrival I felt like I was not just staying there, but living there! The garden, the architecture, the art elements, everything felt right and in complete harmony. I really appreciated the bicycle Shin-san gave me for the duration of my stay. It made exploring Arita so much more fun. Visiting Shin-san's gallery was a very nice personal touch, and as an art enthusiast, it made my stay even more special.

Everything was lovely!

"From the window you can see a small pond with koi carp — such a peaceful and beautiful view."

10.0

This is a very beautiful house run by a Japanese art master. Everything is thoughtfully designed down to the smallest detail. From the window you can see a small pond with koi carp — such a peaceful and beautiful view. On a rainy day I really enjoyed drinking gyokuro tea while watching the raindrops fall into the pond and the koi hiding near the bridge. The host, Shin-san, kindly asked if I needed an umbrella when the rain started and lent me his for the time I stayed. I really appreciated this attention and care. The house had everything I needed, and the aesthetic of the place is wonderful. It’s very quiet and surrounded by nature, and I truly enjoyed my stay. Bicycles are available, but I personally found cycling in the mountainous area a bit difficult — it’s better if you’re used to riding before. On a sunny day I visited Okawachiyama Village and walked there through the mountains. It was challenging — about four hours one way with some almost rock-climbing sections — but the views were incredible. I also highly recommend the café Kasane nearby guest house, where you can try unique wagashi sweets and other food. Thank you for the opportunity to stay here!
