A charming stay in a guesthouse in the historical part of Arita - walking distance to shrines and other sites of interest, and a couple of excellent restaurants (we went to one recommended by our host and had a great meal). The host was so kind and welcoming. We felt very comfortable! I wish we had booked two nights instead of only one.

So cool to stay in an old, traditional house, which had everything we needed. Owner was super friendly and even had some free pottery we were welcome to take. (And he had great suggestions for where to eat nearby and even left us some instant ramen to eat, if we got hungry.) The futon heaters were great and definitely needed when a cold wind storm blew in!

I had to double up on the futon because of my American back, but once I doubled it, it was super comfortable. This is more not being used to traditional bedding and is not a problem with the place.

Friendly host who's an artist with great english! Reply to messages on booking.com system very quickly, always helpful. Perfect secluded traditional Japanese house with modern kitchen and bathroom. Beautiful garden. The host prepared multiple pillows and blankets for people with different preferences.

There is no block-out curtains so the room was shined by a streetlight (or a garden light - not too sure) at night. But it's perfectly normal in a traditional house so this is just a reminder for people to bring your sleep mask.

The property is a separate house next to the host's house. It consists of a large Japanese-style bedroom, an equipped kitchen with a dining table, and a bathroom with a Western-style toilet, shower, and washing machine. The house was very clean and well-furnished. In the bedroom, there's an AC unit, and in the winter the host provides additional heating devices. The neighborhood is very quiet, so my stay was super comfortable. On top of that, the host is extremely nice and accommodating.

Since there are almost no buses in the town, getting to and from the train station requires a bit of walk.

We had a lovely stay in traditional japanese guest house with beautiful garden, perfect hosts and nice location. Shin welcomed us himself, gave us his picture as a present and a souvenir, explained all about Arita and sightseeing, suggested places for dinner and was very helpful. He arranged early check-in and stored our luggage next day while we explored surrounding area. You have the whole house for yourself with proper kitchen and washing machine. Note: the nearest combini (7-11 shop) is 27 mins by foot so bring food with you. Shin warned us about it in advanced and we were prepared.

It's traditional japanese house without central heating. We stayed there in February and weather was cold (-2° C). So inside was cold as well and you need to wait until conditioner and heater will warm up the room. We were prepared for it and it was no surprise for us, so it's nota drawback. But if you never stayed in japanese houses, please, keep it in mind.

Beautiful. Clean. Quiet. Host was unbelievably kind!
