Rie's Retreat - The Emerald room

The room was clean and the location was great.

​From the reviews I read I was expecting a very warm, cosy and welcoming atmosphere. Sadly this was not the case. I was under the impression this was a luxury B&B but it was more of a self catering Airbnb. My son was hoping for a cooked English breakfast, but there was simply bread and cereal left out for us to help ourselves. I never met the host 'Rie'. The room was cold and draughty​ and after contacting her via 'booking' was told to turn on the heating myself, which I attempted to do (both nights) but was unable to make it work.

It gave me the possibility to feel myself at home in every sense. Bus station nearby, close to the city center and very lovely guest stayed in the other rooms. Rie was really helpful and provided quick answers for me before and during my stay too. I really enjoyed my time and did not miss anything.

The bed mattress was for me too soft.

The location was perfect only 5 mins walk to high street. The breakfast was very good. I really enjoyed my stay.

Wonderful place to stay close to Glastonbury town centre. Rie is a fabulous host, she made me feel very welcome and comfortable.

There was little space in the room itself for clothes etc.

This was an air bnb, which, as we'd booked through Booking.com, we didn't realise, so not really a bed and breakfast. We had to let ourselves in and find our way around, which was OK but not what we were expecting. There was also a list of what we were expected to do; load the dishwasher, etc. Again, it's not a problem if we had booked self-catering. We didn't see Rie until we were leaving, so I couldn't comment on her hosting skills. Breakfast was helping ourselves to a selection of cereals with already open cartons of yoghurt, a small bowl of blueberries, and milk, which did include oat milk. There was real coffee, but not enough if you didn't like instant. There was a large array of teas. The bread was several days out of date, and the tubs of butter and spread were open, used, and full of crumbs. Working in the food industry has, to be fair, made me conscious of hygiene, and I'm aware that often people use their fingers or spoons they've licked. There was a good selection of nut butters and spreads, but sadly, some jars were empty or nearly empty, hard and dry. We shared this breakfast with another couple, so there wasn't much left. On the second morning, nothing had been replenished, and 2 more people had arrived! There definitely wasn't enough to go around. We had to buy our own coffee, fruit, and bread. I think perhaps don't include breakfast as part of the deal because what was on offer didn't really cut it, especially as we paid for it. I'm happy to supply my breakfast if I'm expecting too.

I had a wonderful stay at this cozy and lovely property in Glastonbury. The location is perfect, just a short 10-minute walk from the charming downtown area, making it easy to explore local shops, cafés, and historic sites. The atmosphere of the property is warm and inviting, with thoughtful touches that made me feel right at home. It’s a peaceful retreat, ideal for relaxing after a day of exploring. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Glastonbury!

Everything was perfect

Fantastic accommodation, easy walk into town. Clean , tidy, comfortable. Gold room in en suite .. would definitely stay again. Lovely house all the facilities and a fab host. Plus parking on site.
