Beautiful property! Peaceful location!! Wonderful breakfasts!

Our room was near the trash containers so we had some odors and some flies.

Literally nothing.

Everything. Genuinely THE WORST experience I have ever had. Style over substance. Here's some headlines: Staff are awful - rude and only engage or reply when they feel like it (I have no doubt the manager will respond to this review with the usual sarcasm when they get any negative reviews, gaslighting their guests). We stayed during a 3 day 'local festival' that we weren't pre-warned about that turned into a rave with music so loud our walls were vibrating until 2.30am every night. Apparently the accommodation has no responsibility for this and describes local festivals as natural ambient noise and part of their Ts & Cs so you just have to suck it up. In addition, the property has no oven so you can't cook and so isn't really self-catering, has enough water to wash your feet only before it runs out and you have to wait two hours for it to warm up again. On top of all of this, a bird flew into our apartment on the first night which the hotel didn't deal with so we had an extra guest all night. They also failed to deal with it all of the next day so it flew around whilst we were out and dust from the beams and bird excrement was literally everywhere - all over our beds, surfaces and the floor (see photos). Each one of these issues were not dealt with with grace or any basic level of customer service. Instead you are made to smell the local tea and informed where the honey comes from and the local art. To be honest I'd take a quiet place to stay, that's clean and with hot water and pleasant staff over local tea. Next time I'll stay in a hostel for 50 euros a night. I tried to express my disappointment to the owner who was also very rude and informed me he was above having to deal with guest issues. I highly suspect all the positive reviews are from local artist friends or family as there is no way a normal guest would enjoy their stay here. AVOID AT ALL COSTS FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE.

Great breakfast with freshly baked bread and different fruit and juice each day. Close to the supermarket (5 min. drive). Enough space to relax, a nice swimming pool and situated in a quite quiet surrounding. The location is ideal for exploring the island, it takes roughly 30 minutes to get to both ends of the island.

Really nothing the hosts can do about it, but at night the dogs in the surrounding houses were barking quite a lot.

Prachtige locatie, heel mooi gelegen, centraal gelegen, Er was ook de mogelijkheid om ter plaatse avondmaal te krijgen, heel lekker, echt een aanrader!

Nous avons payé 250 CHF par nuit pour un hôtel soi-disant 4 étoiles, mais l’expérience a été catastrophique. La chambre dégage une forte odeur d’humidité, le linge est sale et sent mauvais, l’appartement était pas très propre. La piscine n'est pas aussi jolie qu'en photo, plusieurs installations sont cassées, et la machine à laver est sale. Nuisances sonores constantes, notamment des chiens qui aboient toute la nuit. Après avoir signalé les problèmes, l’hôtel a même organisé une soirée avec un bar juste devant notre porte-fenêtre, ce qui est inacceptable. Nous avons dû quitter l’établissement pour dormir ailleurs plusieurs nuits, faute de pouvoir rester dans ces conditions. Service client inexistant et aucune volonté de trouver une solution, 1 seule réponse de leur part et après plus rien. Très loin du standing annoncé, je déconseille fortement.

De prachtige plek, het vriendelijke personeel, de mooie meubels en servies, het heerlijke ontbijt. We voelden ons er thuis.

De accommodaties hebben wat onderhoud nodig (vooral keuken en badkamer) net als het zwembad (tegeltjes en houten rand eromheen).

Die Appartements befinden sich in einer ehemaligen Teeplantage und haben einen wunderschönen, grosszügigen Garten an einem sehr ruhigen und friedlichen Ort. Der gemeinsame Aufenthaltsraum wie auch unser Appartement ist total stilvoll eingerichtet. Zudem ist das Personal äusserst freundlich und engagiert. Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt und können das Pico do Refúgio wärmstens weiterempfehlen.

A lot of parties next door. Extreme loud party. This is rented for parties and is right next the room. This is unacceptable.
