The Dodsworth modern 4 bedroom house, sleeps 8

Host made everything in order and we were so delighted to find a decorated Christmas tree in the house when we checked-in on Christmas eve.

Room size was too small and the mattresses were not comfy. Water pressure in washroom is not good enough.

Recently stayed and found this to be a home from home. We were 4 sisters meeting up for a few days together in the beautiful city of York. The property had everything you needed in the fully equipped kitchen and was warm and comfortable. Modern decor and plenty of space for 4, though might be a bit of a squeeze if 8 were staying. The beds were comfy with nice clean linen, plenty of towels were available. A few more cushions on the sofas would be better. All in all a lovely place to stay and only about 20 minute's walk into York centre.

Everthing was spot on except only having only one shower was a slight problem for 4 ladies.

Easy 25 min walk into town. Enough parking for 2 cars

The house wasn’t clean. We sent a list of issues over after our arrival as it was so disappointing. Chipped and dirty plates and cups. Dirty oven that had an overwhelming garlic smell. Dirty microwave. Stain and lots of hairs on the sofa. We dropped an item that rolled under the sofa, move to get it and it was disgusting. Dust down the stairs and on surfaces. Broken light in the bathroom. One bulb missing in the bathroom. Plug hole in the bath was disgusting. We have photos but don’t think it’s appropriate to post on the review. The cleaners were sent in during our stay without our consent and I’m not sure what they did but it didn’t improve things very much. All in all not worth the money we paid and certainly wouldn’t go back or recommend to anyone.

Downstairs in the property was absolutely perfect. The large dining table and open spaces, plus an enclosed garden was ideal for our family, which included a lively two year-old. The utensils, glasses and kitchenware were of a very high standard. The ensuite bathroom and downstairs closet were of the same high standard . We couldn’t have picked a better location as it was central to the town centre and nearby supermarkets Whilst the bedrooms were extremely comfortable, equipped with immaculate linen and covers , we did find that it was a little cramped, with very little cupboard space. This did not however the track from our experience. The enclosed garden was essential for our party, therefore it was more than satisfactory. It should be noted for the owners,that two of the garden furniture chairs were broken and that a few more cushions could be made available for the outside space.

The only observation from a negative point of view was the lack of cupboard and hanging space.

The house was stunning. It's been finished to such a high standard and people are extremely lucky to have this house offered to them. It was exceptionally clean. It had everything you need to essentially move straight in. The beds were the comfiest beds ive ever slept in. 5 minute drive and youre at York Minster. We were in a rush otherwise we would have walked with it being so close. There's a local shop so many doors down. A driveway so youre not worried about on street parking - we did managed to fit 3 mum sized cars on the drive! Communication before the stay was amazing, knew exactly where to go and what to do to get into the property. One very happy bunch of girls from the stay here! Due to rubbish we accumulated over the weekend, if there was an extra bin bag, that would have been amazing. Just so cleaning up after ourselves was easier.

Nice modern house with all the facilities we needed. Clean and tidy (more or less, see below). Easy, clear instructions. Convenient shop nearby. Nice quiet road with pleasant green spaces nearby - a good 20-30 minute walk from York centre, but Ubers are very cheap.

No basic cooking condiments, e.g. salt, oil. No recycling info so everything went in the bin. Item of previous occupants' underwear left in bedroom. Very little space in twin rooms. Be aware that while it technically will sleep 8, the arrangement of the two twin rooms means you will have to be very close to your room-mate and there's not much space for two people's luggage in any of the rooms. Each room fine for single occupancy though.

Close to city centre; 2 parking spaces; large area to accommodate group; love the decor; spacious dining area.

Dusty table fan, cobwebs in all bedrooms with spiders, damp smell in upstairs bedroom, faulty shower that would not switch off.

Great location and comfortably housed 5 of us. Beds comfortable.

Outside area was very dirty. Not been cleaned in a long time. Cobwebs everywhere. Ashtray bin full to the brim with cigarette butts. Grass overgrown, table filthy. Garden chairs faulty and dangerous.
