"Very good"

8.0

We thought that the room was very clean. Bathroom facilities were good. The bed and the pillows were very comfortable.

Was passed between three people to show us to the room. Had to walk up two flights of very steep stairs to get to the room. We were unable to watch normal tv programs on the tv as it was a smart tv and hadn't been attached to an aerial. The mirror in the bathroom was too low for my wife to put on her make-up. They also could do with putting a bin in the main room. Was also woken up early in the morning by slamming doors in the bar downstairs.

"Lovely place!"

Comfiest bed and pillows! Wish I could've taken the bed home with me. The room is lovely and the bath tub was next level.

"It's a pub"

6.0

Clean room, good bathroom. Separate entrance to pub.

Awful position - no parking. NOT a boutique hotel - it's 2 rooms above a pub. Nice rooms, but 2 rooms above a pub.

"Heathcock Pub"

7.0

We stayed in room 3, not room 2 which we had booked (see comments below) which was newly decorated. The bed was comfy. The rainforest shower was lovely. They provided shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. Most of the staff were friendly and helpful. We were given a bottle of prosecco free when we arrived as compensation for us not being able to stay in the room we chose. You are given a voucher of 25% off breakfast at the Heathcock Bakery and Deli, a 6 minute walk away (we did not choose to eat there). The pub looked great to have a drink at but didn't realise it would be so busy so we hadn't booked in advance so could not eat there. There is a separate door we could use to leave and enter the building, although we weren't given a key for this until our second day and after asking several people.

They gave our chosen room to another couple. We were given a bottle of prosecco (which was nice) and a voucher for breakfast (but we did not use this). It took them half an hour to work out what had happened with the room and to sort out an alternative. The staff were apologetic and kind. The room was newly opened but there was no TV on the wall like the other rooms. The WiFi didn't work/no signal in the room so we had to use our phone data. There is no wardrobe but there were five hooks on the back of the door to hang our clothes. We were going to a wedding so our wedding clothes could be hung but nothing else. We were given two towels between the two of us, one large and one medium. Fortunately I had brought a spare towel from home we could also use. Room 3 is at the front (like room 1) and on a busy main road. Noise is almost constant. It was very hot over the weekend we stayed so we had to have the windows open (no fan) but this meant we had constant road noise. The Heathcock is a busy popular pub and there was constant banging noises of doors underneath us until midnight each night. There is a separate door we could use to leave and enter the building, although we weren't given a key for this until our second day and after asking several people. Luckily we were staying with friends in room 1 so could share their key until we were provided with our own. The housekeeper seemed lovely and helpful but she explained that if we wanted our room to be cleaned then we would have to leave our key at the bar which we couldn't do as we were going to a wedding and not sure when we would get back. There are two sets of steep stairs to get to the rooms so not ideal for people with mobility issues and a challenge to bring all your luggage up if you were on your own. There was also an event going on in Cardiff on Friday evening which meant that parking on the nearby roads was very difficult because it was free. Parking is all parallel parking.

"Beautiful Room, Improvement Needed"

5.0

The property is situated in the beautiful village of Llandaff. Lovely large room, nice staff and comfortable bed to sleep on. We liked having the coffee machine and slept well. The location was easy to get to.

Extremely steep stairs up to the property which is an accessibility issue (two lots of stairs) and should be mentioned on the booking page. The entrance is scruffy and left a lot to be desired. At £140 a night I expected more. No working Wi-Fi so had to cancel important work meetings and Netflix wouldn't connect in the room. Mini-fridge is a fire hazard in the wardrobe and did not work, so woke up to curdled milk. There is noise from the downstairs beer garden until at least midnight. Breakfast is not at the property (which should be made clear) but at the sister Bakery 6 mins away with a 25% discount (food was lovely). I wouldn't stay here again at that price point.

"A comfortable but noisy discovery"

7.0

The bed was very comfortable and spacious. The TV worked and, had I wanted to, I could have had both a shower and a bath. The bathroom was huge.

Organisation was haphazard… The taps in the basin in the bathroom work back to front. You take a shower when you intend to turn them off. There’s a coffee machine provided but the previous coffee capsules hadn’t been cleaned out but put back in the jar together with two remaining unused ones. The milk I was given turned to junket or yoghurt - not sure which - on day 3, despite the dinky little fridge provided. The room was never cleaned while I was there. It was incredibly noisy - room no 1 is right on the main road and you have to climb two steep sets of stairs to reach it. The Internet only worked spasmodically on the downstairs signal and was feeble. The upstairs one remained hidden. Breakfast had to be taken elsewhere in the town and you pay extra for it. One night there was very little hot water. The next day, no water at all. No explanation or apology provided.
