Sunset Cabins at The Oaks Woodland Retreat

Peaceful, isolated location.

Its obviously a compact accommodation, but we felt let down by basic customer care and attention to the accommodations preparation.We had no towels an unmade bed, most pillows had no pillowcases on and 2 that did , had fresh blood stains on .There was no sheet on the bunk bed and the duvet was thrown in the corner-can only assume someone had thought they had finished preparing it!! We messaged on the app-but got an automated response, later followed the instruction to email the host- no reply.Later phoned the host, who said he would call me back- he didnt.At 11 pm,we spent 45 minutes waiting for a response from booking com directly.The outcome was that they couldn't contact the host,but sent them an email! I was then advised to call tomorrow, if it wasn't resolved.As nearly 7 hrs had passed since my first contact,I suggested booking. com should contact me-they said they would.We didnt get a call. 2 clean pillows and 2 towels were left 24 hrs after our arrival.We never got a sheet or an apology from the host-he did say,it wasnt them, that prepared the cabins!Things happen, but most of the negative aspects of reviews remain.A simple apology and provision of the basic items within a few hours was all that was required.There wasnt a coffee maker- so youll need to bring your own- and towels, as this has happened before,I have now read. Cabin would be perfect for 2 for a couple of days in good weather,if the feedback was considered .The bifold door is very very stiff, but they would be a lovely if they opened properly. Hopefully sorted before others stay.

The quiet location was wonderful. We rented two cabins and it was good. 3 people in each cabin with a good size double bed and a bunk bed

One of the cabins has a broken toilet seat. The bedding in one of the cabins was damp when we arrived with no pillows and no towel for the third person, even though we filled the form in advance to say how many people were staying. Called the number provided and spoke to a lady and explained the issue but nothing was done. Very disappointing on that side of the customer service which let the whole stay down Tea bags and sugar were provided on an arrival but no coffee and no milk.

Location

On arrival the cabin WAS NOT READY. I had to sit outside while the cleaners "got the cabin ready". I hope the bedding was clean but it looked used because it was so creased. One towel was dirty which I only realised after using it. The bed was wobbly and noisy. The couch was uncomfortable you could feel the bars under the flattened cushion. No tea towel was provided. No coat hangers on the wardrobe bar so very little space to put your clothes. I had a small dog with me that I kept on a lead, however, people in the other cabin let their dog run loose and a dog from the farm house also was running loose around the cabins so I had to keep my door shut which is the only way to let fresh air into the cabin. The WiFi box omits a really bight light, at night it lights up the cabin.

I loved the location, absolutely beautiful! the cabin was so cute too.

I had some issues with the confirmation email, the Code for the cabin could’ve been a little clearer

Wonderful little cabin just on the outskirts of the town. Far enough to be peaceful and secluded from the town without being too long a trip along those infamous Devon country lanes! 🤣

The main bed could really do with a much better mattress. No support and lumpy in places.

Loved the location, lots of greenery and open space. It was also very peaceful, keys were easy to find and instructions were clear. Great experience! Highly recommend.

The bed wasn’t the best, a bit on the small side, definitely not the best if you’re tall or if you’ve got big feet. The roads leading up to the accommodation were a bit tight which was a bit of a concern, but didn’t have many issues with that thankfully. The TV also could have been bigger.

The sofa cushions and threadbare throw were extremely dirty and stained and unfortunately did not smell very clean. I had to put my clean dogs throw over it before I sat down . The TV was mounted very high too difficult watch I did not use cooking facilities but appeared sticky. The patio needed a sweep before sitting at the outdoor table but could not find a broom The cabin outside dustbin was not emptied during my stay The bed adequate
