The Captain's Retreat, Quiet 1 Bed Dog Friendly

Lovely clean room, quiet location with local walks and pub from the property

This was our second stay at the Captain's Retreat and it was as cosy as I remember from the first time. It is a lovely quiet location for a stay with our dog. The local pub serves lovely good value food and drink. We will most definitely stay for a third time in the future.

Location is quiet and rural which is perfect for a getaway. High standard of fittings. The heating was effective. Large parking area. Very close to footpaths across fields. Kitchen was large enough and had a decent sized fridge.

The only thing which I didn’t like was the WiFi which was practically useless. To be fair, the host was very responsive to my questions and requests before I arrived. He might have been able to restart the router or offer a different option.

The property is located in an attractive quiet village not far from the coast with lovely view of the countryside. It is tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean and had everything needed for a short break. Car parking near front door. Comfortable bed, good shower and well equipped.

Quiet is an understatement! Sitting outside with a coffee each morning, the only thing to be heard was the birds chirping. Dark sky location too! Inside the property is exceptional and spotless. Decorated, furnished and equipped to a very, very high standard. The owner has clearly thought about the best possible way to make your stay perfect. Dog friendly is an added bonus and not a single dog hair from previous visitors. Bed is really comfy! Kitchen has everything you could possibly need. Pub (excellent atmosphere, excellent beer, hearty food) is a 4 minute walk (torch needed if walking back at night!). Burton Bradstock and Bridport are short drive away. Will definitely return.

Loved everything!

Excellent stay. This was our third stay! Everything you need for two people and their dog. Lovely village with a friendly pub. Great location as a base for exploring 👌
