Aplanty House: A Hidden Gem in The Heart of The Fens

Beautifully maintained

I messaged the owner to enquire whether or not I was in the right parking spot and I found their response rather rude if I’m honest. There was no need. Apart from that, it’s an absolutely beautiful property and a really good location for me. I was really good value for money.

No breakfast. The room was okay

It was hard to find!

No check in available on arrival not sure what room you were in coding system to get in rooms very complicated

Clean smelling sheets, comfortable sofa, huge bath! Netflix on the tv, heater provided to keep the room warm.

Strong smelling shower (musty black mould) Surroundings seemed unfinished (building materials everywhere outside) Towels were not left for us and when I rang to politely inform the host I was given a un polite response. Rather abrupt lady on the other end of the phone which I found rude. The cleaner came promptly and was very apologetic and sweet.

You definitely get the wow factor when entering the property. An oasis of plants and lovely decor Very comfy beds.

We understood the shared lounge area was for guests and so was surprised to find builders entering from the back door. Not knocking at the front. When I checked this with the owner I was told, in no uncertain terms, that I had not booked the entire property and that I would be crazy if I thought I would get all of the property for the price I had paid. I didn't think that at all. Was just surprised to have builders roaming in and out. The owner did ring to explain the situation and said the builders would enter from the back as they did not know the code for the front door. They clearly did, as when it got darker they came in and out from the front! (Lovely when we were having our fish and chips). No hanging space in the King room. No mirror anywhere. No blind for skylight window in the double room These have been mentioned in several reviews but nothing has changed. Overall, it is gem of a place but the way the owner spoke to me took the edge off of our stay. Unfortunately we wouldn't stay again
