Quiet 3 bedroom house 2 min walk from UNESCO shrines

We felt very looked after from the moment we arrived to the moment we left. Ian was most helpful and the house had everything we could possibly need, plus extras that made the stay more comfortable It was quiet , warm & spacious in a lovely location. I would wholeheartedly recommend the place to everyone.

Great location next to a must see Shrine.

I've only positive things to say about the property, host, etc., but I might recommend going in the summer or autumn. In early spring when we went the nature colors were a bit more dull.

The house and the location is lovely! Ian was such a kind and hospitable host, gave us a mini tour of the house when we arrived and went through his food recommendations of the area, even offering to book us a table somewhere he recommended. The house itself is spacious, clean and had everything we needed. The house itself is minutes away from the shrines and walkable into the town, which was ideal for us as we were able to avoid the busier crowds in the afternoon as we were able to visit in the morning. The house also has a washing machine and a tumble dryer so we were able to do all our washing and have it dried within a day during our short stay! We wished we stayed longer in Nikko as it was probably one of our favourite accommodations that we stayed in while in Japan. It was a break from the busy cities and let us wind down. Hopefully one day if we visit Nikko again we’d definitely come back! Thank you, Ian!!

We stayed here for four nights in early January and fell head over heels for the location. Living literally on shrine land, in close proximity to so many historically significant shrines and temples has a way of instilling a bit of zen into your daily life, intentionally or not. We really enjoyed walking for hours around Nikko and the special pocket where Yugenbo was located. The house was perfect for our requirements - well fitted out, excellent kitchen and dining set up and super clean. You could tell the owners had carefully considered the design and it was modern with a Japanese aesthetic. We were very grateful to Ian for assisting us with pick up and drop off to the train station and for his recommendations regarding local food choices and restaurants. Excellent, hassle free and timely communication with the host really improved our experience. We would highly recommend this property.

The temperatures were low when we were in Nikko and we struggled in the evening to get the living area really cosy and warm. Maybe some soft furnishings to close off the Genkan or central stairwell would help.

This accommodation was perfect for a couple of quiet days in Japan. It's situated close to various popular sights in Nikko. The house is fully equipped. Our host Ian was incredibly hospitable. One of our favourite stops in Japan.
