Ian is an incredibly kind and thoughtful host who helped us from the moment we booked his cottage until the time we checked out- from helping us to find GF eating options in Nikko, booking restaurants and even picking us up from the train station! We were instantly relaxed upon entering his beautiful accommodation and wish we could have stayed longer. It is not only aesthetically stunning but spacious, clean and very well equipped, not to mention a stones throw from the breathtaking UNESCO site. We hope to return one day in the future again- thank you Ian 😊

Love this very well appointed house, tastefully decorated and complete in every aspect (amenities, kitchen utensils and condiments, lightings, heating). Feels like home of a very proud owner, definitely comfortable even for long stay. The host/owner Ian was very responsive, helpful and thoughtful, such as providing breakfast ingredients. The garden was a great place to chill and enjoy the serenity. Location is perfect to visit UNESCO shrines/temples, beautiful walk to Sabo dams and Nikko city centre. 5min walk to very good grill & steak restaurant. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!

Our group absolutely loved this place. The quiet location in the middle of an old forest, with ancient shrines and temples within a short walk, was magical. It's also close to a bus stop and a few good restaurants. The house is very comfortable, spacious yet cosy. If you've ever thought that a great place you were staying at would be even better if it had that small detail, you will most probably find that thing here. It simply feels like home. The host is very kind and friendly, he offered to pick us up from the train station when we arrived. And there was even some food and beer waiting for us in the fridge. Definitely the best place we stayed at during our three-week trip to Japan. Would love to come back!

Ian is an amazing host and the house is located just 2 minus walk from all the shrines and tempels of Nikko. The host will provide you with a free parking space and has stuffed the fridge with some basics already when you arrive (eggs, bread, butter, jam & sake and beer!). The house itself is well equipped and has nice beds. You are surrounded by nature while you are also near restaurants etc.

Great location. Friendly host, helpful. The house is amazing with everything you could think of. Even some food in the fridge!
