Ederra Stays & Cafe

Simple room with a balcony in a terrific area. Sushant and Merry were incredibly accommodating, and the downstairs cafe is charming with house-made baked goods and top-notch coffee. Highly recommend.

Lovely location at the heart of the heritage quarter. The rooms are above a cafe and bakery so you have great coffee on hand and lots of breakfast options (for an additional fee). The staff are super friendly and helpful. My room was spacious and had traditional furniture, a huge bed and a balcony. The WiFi in the cafe is good so if you need to WiFi you can sit in the cafe area. There’s a lovely shaded outdoor terrace too.

The WiFi didn’t work very well in the rooms but that wasn’t an problem for me.

The room was pleasant, beautiful ambience. But what was the real treat was the coffee place downstairs. In the morning you can simply walk down the stairs from your room and you are in the coffee place. You can have breakfast there (paid, not cheap for Indian standards but affordable for Western standards). The latte is one of the best I ever had. They have pastries too. Also, there is a restaurant outside where you can have lunch or dinner. It's a beautiful, cosy place. I had a pesto sandwich with grilled vegetables and it was truly delicious. They also serve home made lemonade, very refreshing and delicious. The coffee place is taken care of by two young ladies and they are super friendly waiters. The location is perfect, it's among all the beautifully colored Portugese houses, very pleasant surroundings. Also, after the coffee place closes, you can still stay there. I did that, so I had a table I can put my laptop on.

There was no toilet paper. Not a big deal, you can ask for it. There was only one towel for the entire stay. That too you can probably fix by asking them. I missed a comfortable chair or couch in the room. There is a bench, it's just not very comfortable to sit on. I always like a desk when working on my laptop. But again, you can get yourself a desk by working at one of the tables in the coffee place.

Location is good.

No cleaning everyday. No water available on request. Even freshly changed bedsheets were visibly soiled. The room was very dirty with lot of debris and dust under the bed. The room is located on top of cafe which is very busy and noisy. Not ideal for family or couples. I messaged them beforehand if they had car parking and the replies that it was available. The reality was that there was no parking and we had to search for parking ever single time we had to park and some times we had to park far away as the streets were always busy with plenty of tourists. Our rented car was dented by a bike while it was parked and we ended up paying extra for the repairs. There was dog shit on the premises for several days without being cleared as well. But I would only recommend this place if you must live in the Latin quarters and they have rooms available for much less than what we paid ( we paid 36000 inr including taxes for 5 days stay).

Located in the heart of old quarters - beautiful area to walk around. Really nice cafe at the property with fresh excellent food. The staff is very pleasant and always smiling - special shoutout to Sushant who was extremely helpful right from before stay to after.

WiFi can be improved for those travellers that are looking to work during stay.

Absolutely beautiful room and interior. Super spacious, comfortable, beautiful interior decoration. It felt very homely. The hotel is located in a really nice area too. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had an absolutely lovely stay. Thank you so much!
