"Good"

6.0

The room I stayed in was clean and comfortable. The true name of the location was Kona Islander Inn, which is an old hotel that sold the rooms to individual owners, who subsequently rent them out (VRBO).

"Stay away from!"

2.0

This hotel is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. Filthy and bug ridden. They didn’t even provide complimentary soap and shampoo.

"misleading info when booking"

4.0

Was supposed to be a 1st floor condo and ended up on the 3rd floor at back of complex. My wife has bad hip problems so this was extremely inconvenient. Explanation of room location was vague so my wife and I had to climb 9 different flights of stairs searching for room. Only one time when I went to the front counter was there any employee for me to talk to. description of condo also made it sound like the unit would have a washer and dryer but there was not, community washer and dryer located at front of complex. No instruction provided on how to connect to wifi, only instruction in condo was to carry your own trash out and wash all dishes or there would be an additional charge. not very welcoming, felt as if it was a burden for us to be staying there. description also stated that condo slept 6 but there was only one queen bed and a pullout couch bed and only two pillows provided. don't feel like we got our moneys worth.

"Poor management and maintenance "

2.0

Poor system for checking in. Toll to talk to security to get room # and key. We were told their was no security. Bathroom was small, had to wash hands in small kitchen just off bathroom. Kitchen had a microwave and a hot plate that was completely rusted. The bed was pushed into a space which made it difficult to get into. The couch was so broken you couldn’t hardly get up. Not enough parking,we had to park two properties away and walk a dark street back. No place to put your garbage have to take it with you when you leave

"Avoid this place and Avoid Gayle. This is a fraud."

2.0

Place is advertised as Vacation Condo, which in reality is Kona Islander Inn which has Abysmal rating (just google it). You don't hear about all the rules until a separate email comes with tons of restrictions. Smelly place, very old building. Hardly any parking - 50 or so for 150+ units. You park outside place. Advertised to accommodate 4 people, which in reality was single bed + Inflatable bed (which did not have right connections) Contacting Agent (Gayle) was always busy "attending to other customer" even when Expedia tried to contact her. They collect cleaning fees, but you are supposed to take garbage out and clean dishes

"Avoid Gloria-she is a lunatic"

2.0

I go to Kona 1/month for work and usually get condos for myself and my crew. Our trip was a bit different this time, we were all in and out at different times. I've stayed in these condos before and while they are old, location is good. This time I rented two units, for myself & one for my two male colleagues. I rented the delux studios that sleep 4'. It's cheap $129/night & you get what you pay for, but when I looked at my receipt there was a $210 charge for "mandatory fees", $132 for taxes & recovery, $65 cleaning fee and $5 utility surcharge per room per night. So I called right away (within 5 minutes of making the reservation) and tried to cancel because I was unaware of all the added mysterious fees. Hotels.com had to contact the owner and she wouldnt let me cancel my reservation without retaining 35% for the inconvenience. Then she came and harrassed me about checking out by 1030 at 1015 am. After I checked out she emailed me to tell me that I am a liar because I booked the room for one person and that it was obvious to her that 2 people had stayed there and she was going to charge me for the added laundry. Then she sent this, "because you had extra people and you also used 2 blankets in 136 so I Now know you are being very deceitful and Untruthful. Do Not Lie to me.YOU Will be Charged and Extra $20 for the use of Both Sofas in Both units". When I checked in they asked me how many keys I needed, I said two. I was never deliberately deceitful. But this woman is crazy

"I would never let my worst enemy stay here.EVER."

2.0

You have to take the sheets off your bed, throw the trash, and if you don't keep it clean, the lady Gayle will charge you. The charges were more than the room price. DON'T EVER STAY HERE. It's not worth giving her your hard earned money. Stay somewhere else.

"room not designed for more than two people"

6.0

the room is in the best location possible in the middle of Kona. the view was fabulous. the disappointing thing about the room was that it advertised sleeping arrangements for 4 people when it is only meant for two. My two sisters and I found it very uncomfortable.
