Maalu Maalu Resort & Spa - Thema Collection

The beach and the pool were lovely although the pool temperature was too hot to be refreshing. Everywhere was clean. Ruchi who organised activities with the kids was a star. Snorkelling nearby was really great.

A la carte food service ridiculously slow and activities were very expensive. Lack of shade.

the staff is what makes this hotel a 5*. Huge thank you to Janaka and Chamara and all the other staff for looking after my family and I - especially as my mother had a fall at the beach due to tripping on the volleyball strings and chamara organised a complimentary massage. So thank you for this. Janaka also took really good care of us and making sure our dietary requirements were taken care of. We had excellent food because of him. The serving staff and front desk staff - all so polite and always willing to help which was refreshing.

The room was very small, the bathroom is excessively big and the rooms are dated. The rooms are also very dark so can be depressing, it made us not stay in our room for too long and having the beach on your doorstep was the saving grace for this. The rooms don't seem to be of a 5* standard but as mentioned previously, it is the staff that makes this hotel 5* otherwise the facilities are mediocre.

Very nice and quite beach and surroundings. We landed in Sri Lanka right after the floods that happened in December, and the staff did everything to ensure we were comfortable despite everything not being 100%. They went above and beyond for us, made us feel really happy and extremely flexible with us. Really appreciate the quality of the people they have working in Maalu Maalu, definitely will come back

Not many alternatives for having dinner out of the hotel area, very underdeveloped community from that POV.

Amazing resort - 5 star quality food, accommodation and views! Loved the free yoga class and pool on the beach!
