"A dream stay"

10.0

Hannah was a wonderful hostess and we loved our time at the Deckhouse. The house itself is 5/5 - ample parking, beautiful and well loved decking and garden where we spent every evening soaking up the sun. The house is gorgeous, stylish and so comfortable and warm. Spacious bathroom with a deep bath and lots of hot water, and Hannah dropped off some emergency toilet paper for us as well. There are plenty of walks nearby and we never had to drive more than half an hour to get to the rolling hills, streams, woods and walks. There are horses and dogs in the property as well as sheep and cows nearby and birds nesting all over. Hay on Wye is so close as well if you want to go bookshopping or a cute lunch. The deckhouse is a dream and we dont hesitate to recommend to anyone who wants a real getaway in the middle of the Welsh countryside.

Theres not a huge amount of storage for food but we were only here for three days so we didn't mind too much.

My old university mate and I (both in our 70s) were celebrating our 50th year of meeting with a walk along Offa's Dyke from Hay-on-Wye. This venue was perfect for us - though my curmugeonly mate complained about being woken up by a crowing rooster and the bleating of new born lambs! The bedrooms, lounge/kitchen, outdoor deck, open fireplace and meadow views were as billed. But special mention for the well stocked library of local history, walks, wildlife book and the sumptuous deep bath (though, again, my old mate complained I'd used all the hot water). I've already recommened it to younger friends...

The bloody farm gate! I understand why it needs to be closed each time you drive your car in and out. BUT make it easier to lift and lock!

"Really inspiring place to stay, loved the outdoor area would recommend this accomodation"

10.0

This property is excellent, we loved it! Went with my family for the Hay Festival which was about a 15 minute drive away (take the Painscastle route to Hay for a better road width!). Off the main road, really quiet and private. Little outdoor garden with lots of seating (some under cover), a fire pit and BBQ. Spacious inside, plenty of room for 4 of us to relax on sofas and big table to eat at and Kitchen well supplied, dishwasher very useful! Books to read and TV which we didn't use. Really nice decoration inside, lots of interesting things about, ceratinly not your usual uninspiring grey box! I found the bed really comfy (matress quite soft). The bathroom was huge, lots of space in the shower, strong water pressure. Didn't try the bath but it's large and you can lie in it and look at the trees above through the roof windows! Wasn't expecting the third double bedroom to actually be outside in the garden, I may not have read the description correctly but something to note if you want to be near a bathroom at night time. It was a lovely room though and has a good heater inside. There are some steps throughout, up into the deckhouse and a few steps down into the bathroom if mobility is something you need to think about. Short track up to the cabin, not great for low slung cars like mine, if the pot holes could be filled in it would be good to go for all vehicles but it was fine if I took it slowly. This accomodation is away from ammenities but fantastic if you want some quiet and to be able to sit outside with the fire going and watch the stars overhead. Would recommend!

Some hangers in the wardrobes would be good, as couldn't use without. The only thing that was a problem were the floor rugs, they slid around like crazy. We had to remove them so my mum didn't slip over on them but easily fixed with some non slip mats underneath.

"Cosy gathering for friends/family."

9.0

Easy instructions on how to get in. Beautiful location. Fabulous facilities/amenities. Comfortable beds. Warm and Cosy. Very lovely shower. We didn't use the bath, but it looked great. The outside space with the blankets and seating was so lovely and it was a great nature spotting place. The sheep in the adjacent field made our day 🤗

It would have been nice to have blinds or curtains that block more light in the bedrooms and potentially a curtain across the door in the 2nd bedroom that is situated across the decking in the separate cabin. Although it is very isolated, the friend that stayed in that bedroom felt a little vulnerable/exposed being able to see out of the window, especially at night, without an option to block it off. That being said, it absolutely wouldn't put us off going again as we loved it.
