The Brookside Motel Keystone Near Mt Rushmore

The location,the set up, obe of the best rooms we have stayed in.

Enjoyed the throw back style setring. Owner/manager and staff were super kind and helpful.

The bed was a little lumpy, but slept fine. Could use more lighting We stayed 2 nights and no one came to get our towels or clean our room after 1st night.

This is my second time getting a nightmare motel on booking.com. I wish they would screen or put warnings for these death traps. No one was there when I got there to check in; I called the phone, rang the bell, and called customer service. He finally woke up reeking of B.O. The room was filthy. The T.V. turned on, but was not connected to the network, and there was no signal. The worst was the suffocating odor.

The staff were very friendly and attempted to rectify the poor room that was first assigned. The location was walkable to several restaurants

Against my better judgment I picked this motel due to the newest reviews on it being a quaint motel and most said it was clean and comfortable. So very misleading! First room, the bed was so low to the ground and upon sitting on the bed it made a loud noise as if it broke. It was visibly sagging upon entering the room. The floor felt very uneven and the floor covering was not secured. The room was VERY dated, you could see outside around the AC unit. Second room, the bed was higher off the floor, maybe 8 channels on the TV and with the volume up there was a loud humming noise. Most channels weren’t clear. The toilet in the second room was between the shower and wall and was extremely narrow space. The toilet was so low to the ground and no grab bars to assist getting up. Towels were all dingy. The shower head was about at chin level. My parents room was decent but they had to take turns with the neighboring unit to use the shower due to water pressure. Coffee provided in room was decaf only. I’m not sure that rooms are thoroughly cleaned between guests. I felt like it was overpriced for what it was. Although the staff were very nice, I was still so disappointed in the rooms and it really ruined the stop in Keystone on our road trip. I wish I had pictures of the rooms but I want to forget our stay there. This motel is in serious need of repairs that are professional repairs.

Location was great. We stayed two nights. The owner/receptionist is a wonderful generous man who lent me his personal charging plug so I could charge my phone. He also let me come in for breakfast when I arrived a few minutes after breakfast hours the first morning. The second morning we had a good breakfast with many choices and sat in the dining room. At check-in we were able to be reassigned from the second floor to a suite of two rooms on the ground floor which was a blessing for my partner who has had surgery on both knees and has trouble with stairs. The suite also gave our 13 year old grandson a welcome chance for private space.

The floor and fixtures in the room need updating.
