The Brookside Motel Keystone Near Mt Rushmore

I honestly believe that, this property is a 5 star in it’s category. Let me preface my statement. This a MOTEL not a HOTEL. But, even though it is quite dated and could use a facelift, this is a cute little place with great character. Our room was clean and ready upon arrival. The bed was quite firm, yet pretty comfortable. Hot water was readily available and the heating/air conditioning unit worked well. The privacy was perfect and it was a quite stay, which was much appreciated. But, I would be remiss if I did not mention the top notch care the property manager took to make our stay so pleasant. He was very personable and cordial. I observed him working diligently to make sure the property was maintained and clean. Breakfast was pretty typical for this type of venue, but it was sufficient. And, the manager is very proud of his coffee, so don’t hurt his feelings by walking down to the coffee cabin for one of those “fancy” lattes and paying an exuberant price when his is the “best in town” and it’s included in the price of the room. 😁

We did not have this issue, but we could see that if this establishment happened to be full, there could possibly be an issue with parking, but I am sure the property manager has a solution for this possibility. So, no, there wasn’t anything we didn’t like about the property.

The owner checks the people in , makes breakfast with scrambled egg & sausage & cleans the rooms. He was amazing.

Well priced, traditional motel on the quiet side of town. The most accommodating staff!

Old and dated but very clean and Alex was wonderful and friendly and so helpful.

No hot water in the shower. Electrical outlet in bathroom did not work. Bed felt like sleeping on a futon. Walls were so thin I could hear the guy next door sneeze, and his dog barked every time I moved. TV had no sound.

Bad smell the floor wasn’t clean the toilet was dirty and it’s too expensive for all those bad things 121 for one night

Best value in Keystone. Yes, it’s a little run down, but everything works and I felt safe. Room was large. Shower water temperature/pressure was great. Wi-Fi was good. Room had a microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker. Location was excellent—easy walk into the touristy part of town, short drive to Mt Rushmore. Breakfast was surprisingly good—scrambled eggs, sausage, cereal, oatmeal, toast, jelly, butter, pastries, orange and apple juice. I recommend this place—very livable, best value in town.

The rooms are cleaned thoroughly, but the property is old.
