The view from the property and the sunsets were incredible but that is all.

Never has anyone been so rude to me on arrival. I was shouted at and spoken to like a child, repeatedly for driving past the house and looking for the parking gate as specified in a message I received a day before. There was no mention to report to the house as the owner kept repeating to me. It ruined my first night I was so angry. To top it off we had no gas, the canister was empty so no hot showers or cooking. They did supply a camping stove and it got resolved the next day but I had been wild camping for 2 night and it was looking forward to a shower, the next morning they could not give a time for the canister change so I had to resort to a freezing cold shower. And I had already been using a camping stove for a week so I was not happy. The wood burner bath was also such a let down, very little instructions in the folder provided. Had to watch online videos of how to do it properly. Took three hours to heat with constant monitoring. The wood chunks they give you are way too big and not suitable. The trail walks from the property are very overgrown so would not recommend. It was not pleasant, especially the walk back from town. Breakfast is not included in the shepherds hut even tho it states this on the booking.

Lovely and very comfortable room with a very friendly and helpful house owner. We felt at home with all the freedom you need! Beautiful accomadation with a splendid view: breathtaking! We realy enjoyed our stay and hope to come back Some day.

Breakfast was very well prepared for us each morning. The first day we had a full english which was cooked exceptionally well and on the second we had some salmon which was also fantastic. I wish I could cook a full english this good. The property and surrounding areas were beautiful and the drive to get there was not bad at all. The views were great, but you have to hope for good weather for clear visibility. We had cakes that were prepared for our room and before finding out they were homemade I genuinely thought they were store-bought. They really were good enough to sell at a market. There were also some very lovely dogs around the house that were very gentle. Our host, Astley, was the most warm and welcoming person I might have ever met. She made us feel a sense of belonging to the area and was incredibly helpful in many ways such as informing us the best places to get a meal, or the best places to visit. She even went out of her way to write down ideal routes to tour the lovely sights of the surrounding areas on our way back home so we could make the most of the sunny weather. It was one of the best drives I've taken and the views were fantastic. If not for the suggestion, we would have missed it entirely! I cannot recommend this B&B enough! When we are back in the area, this will be the first place we look for availability!

Our stay at Astley’s Bed & Breakfast was truly unforgettable. The rooms are beautifully and lovingly decorated, and the red room in particular offers a stunning sea view. If you're looking for a warm, cosy getaway in a quiet and peaceful rural setting, this is absolutely the place to be. Astley is a wonderfully kind and welcoming host. She gave us great local tips for walks and sightseeing, and checked in with us daily about our breakfast preferences. We felt completely at home and especially enjoyed the company of her two sweet and friendly dogs. Thank you so much for everything!

Astley was a superb host. Breakfast was delicious. The room was was clean and comfortable. With homemade cake and fresh milk .. delightful. The view from the house was insane. We sat on the gin terrace and watched the sunset. It was glorious. Superb location. Betsy and Bunty the two resident doggies were a delight. I'd highly recommend! Thank you Astley!

We couldn't have asked for more from Astley and her beautiful dogs! Superb location, the room was wonderful and had a fantastic view, it was exceptionally clean and beautifully presented. We received such a warm welcome and Astley made us feel so at home; every need was catered for, even down to our small dog Baldrick who was also treated as a welcome guest! I would highly recommend everything about this property and the host, wonderful breakfast, really comfy and luxurious bed, beautiful grounds and a fantastic base to explore the local area. Thanks so much Astley for your hospitality, we hope to visit again sometime! Emma, Morten and Baldrick!
