Haw thorn House - 2 bedroom, Ashington, Northumberland

The property was otherwise clean and suitable for what we needed.

We were disgusted with the amount of rubbish sitting in the back garden. The bins were full and there must have been another 7 bin bags lying around that birds had gotten into. The microwave was really rusty which I feel is unsafe, the garden needed wedded and grass cut, the toilet seat was broken and the freezer door didn’t close as it was thick with ice. Smoke alarms were also hanging from the roof which made us wonder if they were actually working?

Bobby and Jack Charlton played football as kids in the park around the corner. The size of the living room. Towels were provided.

The towels they provided werent fully clean; they had brownish marks on them. The front door has marks on it showing evidence of prior attempted break in; as if someone has used a crowbar between the door and frame. As soon as you step inside the front door the floor gives way under foot. The freezer is so overfrozen that the door is kept open. There is no cutlery to eat with. But nevermind, the cooker had bits of food in it, and a slight smell, so didnt fancy cooking :) There is no evidence the house is cleaned, so its irritating having paid a cleaning fee. There was a blood stain on the quilt cover; so they hadnt even changed/cleaned the quilt covers. The second bedroom was filthy. The blind in the second bedroom is broken. The toilet seat is broken and slides when you sit on it. After not sleeping on the bloodied quilt covered bed, I tried the other bed, and it had an awkward bulge; there was an empty vodka bottle under the mattress! There is a pile of garbage in the garden that stinks. The kitchen floor is damp and coming up; probably from the open freezer. I have never stayed anyway like this before. It is awful. I can not believe places like this get rented out.

Clean, modern but comfortable with lovely thick towels. Owners have thought about what would be needed in the kitchen and supplied a good aray of crockery and equipment. Beds were comfy and rooms surprisingly big for a terraced property. Owners contact is good, loads of local info available. Good location to explore Northumberland and coastline. Would use again, we booked shirt notice and were surprised at how confident to everything it was and a great stepping of point to explore Northumberland

Just a personal preference, would have liked upstairs bathroom.

This is a lovely house. Very clean and comfortable.Lovely back garden with picnic table. I've stayed here last year too. Highly recommend.

Spacious and in the right area to easily visit family

The tea and coffee station was stocked with mostly out of date items other than one type of coffee sachet. When we arrived it was late and the house was very cold and they was no instructions on how to use the heating system, it took us a few hours but we figured it out. I messaged the host but had no response, a check in would have been appreciated just to make sure we had it working. Overall the house itself self was good for the price. It would have been nice to have hand soap in the toilet and dish soap for dirty dishes rather than washing them in just water

Booked this house last minuet and location was really good. Finding property was easy as was using the lock system to enter. The rooms were all very spacious and WiFi worked well. Clear instructions were available for check out day. The beds in the biggest room were very comfortable and had a good nights sleep.

I would say the house is in need of some TLC. Certain areas definitely need some refurbishments, there was a big damp spot at the top of the stairs. Also upon entering the property there was quite a strong smell of cats, also found some cat toys so proved that theory. The beds in the smaller bedroom were very firm. Kitchen cupboards had food/ drink marks, so all in all the place just needs a really good clean. There were also lots of black bin bags overflowing from the wheelie bins in the back garden which was quite an eyesore.
