Rainsough Cottage Guest House - Shared Bathroom - Free Parking & WiFi

The room was big with essential ameneties (fridge/freezer, microwave, boiler, iron…) The bathroom which was shared was cleaned everyday.

The other people in the cottage had no respect for others. Until 2am there was loud music playing, people shouting and banging doors. Especially the night of the 31st going to 1st Nov. I did not feel safe even going to the bathroom. I stayed in my room with the door locked. They must have mistaken this place for a dormitory or fraternity house.

Lovely spot. I was most worried that I got no acknowledgement for my passport, but once I arrived things went well. Can t really assess staff as I never saw anyone.

Stayed at the cottage because of its proximity to family I was visiting in Prestwich. It was in a perfect position for me with a convenience store across the road and several takeaway options nearby. It also backed on to beautiful parklands. I loved walking every day and the park was stunning. The town of Prestwich was about 1-2 kms away, an easy walk but there were plenty of buses that passed by as an option. Lovely to have a TV, kettle, microwave, fridge and coffee making facilities in the room. Heating excellent, bed comfortable. Staying by myself, I appreciated the motion sensored lighting in the entranceway to the house and the hallway outside the bathroom. The exterior key system broke down whilst I was staying there and I appreciated that it was fixed in a couple of days to provide appropriate security.

I would have preferred an ensuite bathroom but that wasn’t available when I booked. Having a shared bathroom is fine however, where possible, there should be a separate toilet provided so those showering aren’t holding up those wishing to go to the toilet. It wasn’t a problem whilst I was there, my timetable didn’t seem to clash with other visitors. I stayed in room 5 on the ground floor, underneath another room. There was very little insulation or soundproofing between the floors. I could easily hear conversations between guests in their room, their phone conversations, their television. I presume they could probably hear mine. Again, only a real problem when you want to sleep and the upstairs neighbours are watching a horror movie or arguing with each other. Would strongly suggest carpeting or some level of acoustic insulation to maintain the privacy of those rooms. Because I was visiting friends and relatives, I would walk back late at night and the driveway would benefit from some motion sensored or permanent lighting to make it safer, the driveway is very rough. The grounds also looked a bit scruffy and could probably do with more regular maintenance.
