Scoresby's - 2-bedroom apartment with parking

The property was exactly what we needed for a weekend stay to attend a wedding. Spacious living room/ kitchen, nice bedrooms and comfy beds all clean.

There wasn’t anything I didn’t like.

Nothing, on arrival the at the agreed chec-in time of 2pm, it was still being cleaned by an elderly gentleman called Edwin, who asked me to wait 10 minutes before we could enter the property. After I gained entry to the accommodation Edwin then returned to say that he had left his jacket there, and then returned again to say he wanted to make sure all the cleaning products were putaway, . the property was really dirty, I took photos of the dust I collected by running my fingers on the dining room table, the bedside tables, the mantle piece, and the bed linen, pillows and quilt were of a really poor quality. I sent a message to the accommodation contact saying I wouldn’t be staying there , and that I had had to book an alternative accommodation and I sent him the proof that I had booked alternative accommodation I’ve been in contact with the owner of this accommodation and he told me he had to refund the next guests that stayed there after me.,,,,but I didn’t even stay there!!!I i booked alternative accommodation that same day. . I was only in the apartment for 20 minutes, and didn’t stay there I find this quite astounding, that he could blame me for a refund for the next guests. I have proof of me not staying in this accommodation, and I sent him proof of my alternative booking. and having to book alternative accommodation, and the phots of the dust and I have proof of text messages between my self and the accommodation owner, I have requested a refund, as I have proof by photos of the lack of cleaning, that I have sent to the owner, and I have proof of the text messages between my self and the owner of the apartment regarding all the the details as to why i am asking for a refund for his accommodation that I did not say in.

No hot water heating went off on the morning unable to get tv or WiFi to work

Location is by a busy road with traffic lights but walkable into Whitby. Uphill on the way back.

Lock box for keys was fiddly and I had to call the host after trying for half an hour to open it. Finally successful. Once inside the TV wasn’t working, the WiFi wasn’t working, we had no hot water from the hot taps and no heating as there was no thermostat. The boiler was in a locked wardrobe in the lounge. The above facilities are shown as available in the property on the website. Got in touch with the hosts brother on Saturday afternoon after a few missed calls who offered to visit to rectify the issues. He apologised about the WiFi with a story about multiple engineer visits and the wrong equipment being brought etc etc, he apologised about the lack of tv saying he’d tried to get it sorted, his response to no hot water in the taps was ‘ what do you need hot water for there’s an electric shower and a dishwasher.’ I said we’d come in soaked through from a trail round Whitby and the abbey in the pouring rain it would have been nice to wash our hands in hot water and warmed up and dried out with a bit of heat on from the radiators. He unlocked the cupboard and switched the boiler on which was around 6.30 pm then all went off at 11pm with nothing the next morning. We were checking out at 11am. The shower was a health hazard. My daughter used it on the first night and said there were 5 pubic hairs in it. She then got to get water rising up from the drain hole filled with other people’s hairs and skin round her ankles. She told hosts brother who blamed the drains in other people’s flats below for the problem. The whole place was filthy, the skirting boards, the carpets. The chairs and sofa were stained. The cutlery and utensils had dried on food caked on, the pillows had no pillow protectors on and were deeply stained and very old and musty like the duvets, the covers were worn thin. The dining room chairs had crumbs on them, I had to wash them before I could sit down. Cobwebs dangling down in the hallway. The sponge and scrubber on the sink stank of staleness.

It had car parking

Apartment was very dated and needs an urgent upgrade. Beds not comfortable, sofa and chairs again not comfortable (living room chair had a large dip in it), window frames broken, decor throughout needs re-doing, heater broken should not even be used.
