Location was the only good thing about staying at Darwin Guest House

Staying at Darwin Guest House was one of the worst accommodation experiences I’ve ever had. They do not pick up their phones at all. I called more than a hundred times and not once did anyone answer. The bedsheet looked like it had been on the bed since the beginning of time. There were visible dust particles and hairs on the bedsheets, making it completely unhygienic and revolting. The furniture was thick with dust, the room was mouldy, smelt strongly of cigarettes, and there were cobwebs everywhere. It was painfully obvious that no effort whatsoever had been made to clean the room before my arrival. The place was so unbearable that I had to leave the property that same night and travel all the way back to Leeds, where I had come from. I only returned the following evening because I had no choice, as I was due to start work on Monday. Even then, the conditions were still unacceptable. I had to put my own bedsheet on the bed and spray air freshener just to tolerate being in the room. To make matters worse, the WiFi was not working at all, the microwave in the kitchen did not work and the fridge/freezer was like a dumpster. It smelt of spoiled milk, with old bottles left inside, making it unusable and disgusting. This place is unhygienic, poorly maintained, and shows zero regard for guests.

How the bed was broken. The bathroom sink was blocked. Our room had a weird smell, cracks and a hole in the roof. The cupboards in the kitchen were hanging off.

Es hatte zumindest einen Wasserkocher auf dem Zimmer, mit dem man sich noch eine asiatische Suppe machen konnte. Leider war die gemeinschaftsküche nämlich sehr dreckig

Wie oben genannt war die gemeinschaftsküche und auch alle anderen Räume sehr dreckig. Das gemeinschaftsbad hat kein Mülleimer und keine Seife, kein Handtuch und die Dusche hat geschimmelt. Also mussten wir unseren Mülleimer dort hin stellen. Es waren Spinnennetze an den Lampen und auch sonst war vieles eingestaubt und einige Lampen funktionierten nicht. Kurze Story, wir machen das Zimmer auf und was befindet sich hinter der Türe? Richtig: ein UNTERHEMD!!! Das Zimmer in dem wir waren hatte Löcher in der Wand, eine sehr unangenehme quietschige Matratze, die auf etwas war, was alles andere als ein Bett war. Siehe Bilder. Auf dem Bild haben wir es schon richtig rum hingestellt. Die Seite mit dem Loch wäre meine Kopfseite gewesen… Wir mussten erstmal das ganze Bett auseinandernehmen um es halbwegs akzeptabel hinzustellen und es später mit einem Buch stützen um dann eine zum Glück relativ gerade Oberfläche zu bekommen denn das Bett hatte einfach ein Loch und war auf auf der einen Hälfte mit einer Holzplatte zugemacht. Es war eine Socke unter unserem Bett und sehr viel Dreck. Bucht diese Unterkunft bitte nicht. Tut euch den Gefallen und sucht euch lieber etwas anderes. Auch wenn die Unterkunft sehr schnell schön gemacht werden kann.

Whole house smelt of smoke and weed, the room had a dead lock bolt on it because other lock didnt work, there was a hole in the ceiling and damp, giant stain on the bed frame, looked nothing like the photos on the site and was so bad I spent all of 10 minutes in there before making a swift exit and staying somewhere else. It didnt feel safe there at all! There was no toilet roll and when checking cupboards to find some, found empty tins of Guinness, a milk bottle filled with water and cigarettes in it. Bathroom had mould as well. All in all.... DO NOT BOOK!!
