Kupu Kupu Garden Guest House & Cafe

My experience at Kupu Kupu Guesthouse was absolutely amazing. They have the kindest staff, each and every one of them went out of their way to make the stay special to us! The Kupu Kupu team felt like family, and their service at the guesthouse as well as during the two day jungle trek we did was more than perfect. Rooms are clean and cozy, the view from the guesthouse is beautiful, and the two day trek we did with them is an experience I will never forget! The breakfast is delicious and even the transfers arranged via them were perfect and done by super friendly drivers. Thank you again to the whole team for making our sumatra trip truely wonderful!

Beautiful place in the jungle! We stayed here before and after our jungle hike and if was lovely! They had great breakfast and a delicious family style dinner in the communal area which we loved.

It’s a bit further from the town but we didn’t mind as we loved being in the jungle and they offer great food (nice breakfast and family style dinner) in the restaurant.

This is a wonderful guest house in a peaceful location, a 30 minute walk along the river. Porters are available for a small fee. A fabulous view into the jungle. Arif, Riski and the girls in the kitchen provide a friendly, laid-back atmosphere and create amazing meals. All the guests eat dinner together, a great communal experience. Some of the rooms have outside jungle bathrooms. Staying here was the highlight of our trip to Indonesia.

I can't think of anything I didn't like. Maybe the marauding macaques!

As a solo traveler traveling in low season, I expected there might be some inconveniences. however, the staffs of Kupukupu helped me to overcome all the difficulties, planning and arranging my trips well with good value. I also like the cookings from their kitchen. You need to order dinner in the morning then they can buy fresh food in the day and cook the dishes well. I tried some other restaurant with high rating in the village, unfortunately, their food are not fresh at all. I really appreciate the Kupu Kupu kitchen prepares the dishes with heart, even for one single guest.

I lived in the family suite. The design of the washing and toileting area confuses me. It’s half open air, when it’s rainy hard you have to stand in the rain to brush your teeth and do the washings.

The Kupu Kupu garden guest house is in a beautiful location with very friendly staff especially Arif who made us feel at home and welcome straight away! we enjoyed our stay so much that we booked in for longer because we didn’t want to leave! the facilities were all perfect and the whole place was very clean, we honestly didn’t want to leave! we would of spent longer there if our stay in Sumatra wasn’t so short. We definitely recommend this accommodation for anyone else and will definitely be back!

Very cozy place with a nice and quite atmosphere. A little walk to the juggle makes it super private place to stay. The staffs very friendly and speak fluent English.

The location is chill, far away from noisy motorbikes. Also the friendliness of the staf. The hosts (Arif and Risky) were very entertaining and honest. They want you to have a good time and will do everything to make you feel at home. They organise good trustfull and knowledgeable guides for the jungle trek and transport. Highly recommend it. We absolutely loved the laid back jungle spirit of Kupu Kupu Garden.

The beds and cushions were a bit hard for our taste.
