The Balconies Studio, The Marilyn Suite & The Crystal Apartment at Casa of Essence in Old San Juan

Great size, very clean, and perfect home base for exploring Old San Juan. Grocery store and restaurants are right around the corner. Has a nice well-equipped kitchen, balconies, and comfy beds.

It was much noisier at night than we would have liked. We were there around New Year's, hence had expected some partying. And the sounds of music and happy people are part of the vacation experience. However, the apartment's widows and balcony doors have no sound-proofing and there are bars and clubs right next door. This all made it difficult to fall asleep before the clubs closed. And a couple of hours later the garbage truck drives by, seemingly smashing every single glass object in Old San Juan. We still got a decent amount of sleep---by getting up really late.

This apartment is in a great location in the heart of San Juan. It is easy to walk to the forts, Cathedral, shops, waterfront, and restaurants from here. It is close to a convenience store, restaurants, bars, etc. The bed and linens were comfortable. The host was easy to communicate with via text and was very helpful!

The street that the apartment on is very busy and noisy. The shops and restaurants nearby play loud music all night. So, if you are a light sleeper, pack some ear plugs. There was also a vent/slit in the bathroom wall that opened to the stairwell. Just an unusual quirk.
