First time trying out the enfamous "love hotel" in Japan with hubby; we were a little worried about things like cleaniness & weired vibe but it's none of that! I find walking upstairs to check-in and walking downstairs on the other side to check-out interesting. There's no front desk which was a shock; we had to pick up the phone to call someone to check us in... and again as a first-timer non-Japanese, it was a little intimidating. I wish it can be like AirBNB where there's 0 in-person interaction. It went well though - the staff was helpful and the hallway looks really dreamy and romantic. I don't understand why there's a chair outside each room though... The room was spacious, clean, comfortable with lots of amenities including free movies. I regret not booking multiple days and will definitely stay again next time I come to Yame.

The check-in was in lightening speed - they didn't even check our passport or ID like all other hotels do - privacy reasons maybe, but they didn't give us any instructions on parking. Since there's no front desk, I don't know how to ask except calling (and again as a non-native Japanese speaker this is a little difficult). Before I called, the phone rang a few times and I was a little scared to answer too. Wish there could be a message screen in each room so we can just check & respond the message, instead of phone calls, but again maybe not many foreigners stay here. Breakfast is a little way too basic; it would be great to have an add-on option for upgrade.
