Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Columbus by IHG

During the COVID pandemic we are careful where we stay. Our past experiences with major chains have been good. But this Holiday Inn Express is a major exception. They seem to be on a COVID Holiday. When we checked-in, the desk clerk was not wearing a face mask, nor was one anywhere visible on her body. The person checking in after us was not wearing a covering, although a gaiter was around his neck. In the morning, when checking out, the desk clerk was sitting at one of the breakfast area tables and not wearing her mask, although she did put in on when she came over to the desk. The hotel is conveniently located just off I-10, but it should be avoided for the next 6 months (at least) if you are concerned about COVID.

Booked this hotel not knowing what to expect as it is a small town but I did notice that they stated that the rooms had been redone. They had and beds were very comfortable. What I liked the most though was that it was real close to the highway but at the same time at the end of a dead end road and the parking lot lighting had been upgraded and it was a bright as day at night out there. If you are looking for an overnight stay at a comfortable hotel with great customer service close to the highway and restaurants where you can feel safe as well you have found the place you are looking for.

I stay with IHG hotels a lot. As a Spire Elite member, I’m very disappointed in my stay here in Columbus. When I book a room, I expect that the room is reserved for me. However, on this stay, I didn’t even have a room when I checked in. After standing at the counter for 15 minutes, they finally found a mediocre room for me. Instead of the king suit that I reserved, they placed me in double queen. VERY DISAPPOINTED!! This is a primary reason I’ve become a Diamond member with Hilton.

From the very beginning with checking in with Toni (I think this was her name--sorry if not) was superb! Then we walked into our room and glanced at the incredibly inviting beds and instantly knew we had made a great switch to Holiday Inn Express - even though I'm a rewards member, it's been a while since I've actually stayed at a facility - my, on my, things have certainly changed, in a very good way, from superior beds and bedding (love the mix of "soft" and "firm" pillows on each bed (we stayed in 2 queens) to the cleanliness of the room to the upgraded refrigerator, microwave, and Keurig coffee - really nice touch. After almost 7 hours on the road, we were ready for a fabulous shower and with this hotel's fabulous shower head, we were not disappointed. We both slept so soundly that when morning came, we were shocked the night was already gone. Then breakfast - scrambled eggs, bacon, cream grave with biscuits plus the best Greek yogurts - both of us were absolutely DELIGHTED!!

We booked two nights but decided to stay three! Staff very friendly welcoming and helpful. Check in quick and easy. Room delightful and spotless. Breakfast very good. Would certainly choose this hotel again.

The room clean and roomy love the lighting in the bathroom even in the room was the best. New solar shade replaces curtain over the AC unit no need for clips to keep the curtains closed But the bed was a bit tall for me and my sister. Now we are both just 5 ft tall and the bed was about 3 ft tall but very comfy once we climbed in.And as for the staff I only saw one person Tony and she was terrific !! And I will be glad to stay here again.

Renovations are nearly done. The new modern look & colors are refreshing. Pros: Rooms are spacious, new 50+” screen tv, lighting, carpeting, furniture, beds & linens. Bathroom is sleek & white with led lighting. Nice outdoor pool. Cons: Sub-quality contractor work. Management needs a good QA person. No lighting over nice area created for suitcases. New mattress was hard & linens scratchy. Breakfast is very light. Lots of pastries. No fresh fruit. Front desk not professional. Dining near hotel: Nancy’s Steak House & Los Cabo’s both are excellent.
