"this is a tired hotel and should be retired"

4.0

I do not believe this was ever a Holiday Inn Express. Maybe it will be but it is a shabby motel now. the staff is great worthy of an Express but the hotel is a dump. I cant believe they are charging a full rate for stays. the rooms are dirty. I dropped something on the floor and beneath the beds it is horrible. I tried to turn on the heater in the room and it was so dirty it set-off the fire alarm. The shower curtain doesn't cover the entire shower. The towels are great though. there are no outlets at the desk. Breakfast was poor. three pieces of dried bread in the rack, bananas were badly bruised and warm, no skim milk, sausage and the eggs were dry, warm and must have been put out a lot earlier. this property is at best the same as a Motel 6 definitely not a Holiday Inn Express. The staff is very polite and at least left a good impression

"Under renovation"

4.0

We had king room suite and renovation was still taking place. The quality of the renovation is very poor. The best thing was the new mattresses are very comfortable. After first night no one made up the room and we were told they are having a problem with housekeeping. Breakfast area was makeshift and it was not being maintained while were eating on the first morning. We did not come back on second day. As this was the antique fair week we paid way too much for what we got.

"Wonderful staff - especially the Breakfast Lady!"

10.0

We were stranded due to an unfortunate collision with a deer on Highway 71 close to Columbus. We were quite shaken from our experience and were thankful when the local police gave us a ride to the Holiday Inn Express & Suites hotel in Columbus, TX. The hotel is going through renovation so things were a little in disarray, however the wonderful people who work at the hotel made up for all of it. The front desk people were friendly. The one person we want to particularly give a shout out for is Nan - the breakfast lady. During breakfast, she was friendly, hard working, and extremely attentive. Later on Nan came to our rescue when she learned that we were stranded and were looking for a ride to get to a car rental place 45 miles away. Thank you Nan for your kindness! You saved us in our time of need. There are very few people would do things like this for total strangers!

"Go stay. Nice staff."

Stayed here for 3 days while visiting the area. Close to several good area restaurants, attractions and major highways. Easy access to get around. The staff was great. Good parking area. Nice breakfast area.

"Renovations"

4.0

Would have been nice to know renovations were taking place. We checked in around 2:30 in second floor room. Loud hamamering and sawing and pounding just above us on third floor. Elevators out of order. Room has been partially renovated. Smelled like pain. Half-assed job so far on the renovations. Black wires clamped to the wall from the door to the TV. Elevator out of service. Good location right on I10. Comfortable bed. Might be better when renovations are done, but don't stay here till they are finished.

"Good Night Sleep - Nice Breakfast"

6.0

IHG Member, so Holiday Inn is our go to hotel and we've stayed here before. When we arrived it was obvious renovations were going on and when the front counter staff finally came out he said as much - "long overdue". We made our reservations online somewhat late so the only rooms available were the accessible rooms on the first floor (not a problem). However when we opened the door to our room it smelled musky with a number of primer paint marks on the walls. The bathroom was the same with tiles under the sink missing. There was no hot water in the shower or sink. Thank goodness we did sleep well and breakfast was good. I hope the renovations finish up soon - it's lacking our typical IHG experience.

"Not to bad a place."

6.0

Judging from the other reviews I got lucky with my room. My room had recently been remodeled and was clean but did have a slight musty odor which explains why the thermostat was turned down so low. I liked my room but it was very noisy, I could hear other people talking and I could hear all the traffic on I10. If you stay here be sure to get a room opposite the I10 side. The breakfast area was very small, about six tables if I remember correctly, and the breakfast was ok but the coffee was great. Parking lot had leaves all over the place which really made the place looked tacky. The staff was very friendly.

"IHG headquarters would be appalled "

2.0

We are platinum elite members and this has to be the worst HIE we have stayed in. The first room they put us in had a water leak hole above the shower. When we called for maintenance the girl acted surprised it was in that shape. It had been like that for a long time. The quality of the renovation is horrible. Whoever runs this hotel is charging people too much and only banking on the name. I wish I could add more pictures as the painters just painted over the light switches. She didn't check the new room because it was not even done and had blue tape everywhere. IHG needs to step in and monitor this renovation. With all the HIE we have stayed that have transitioned over to the new models, this hotel is FAR from that and I'm afraid it won't look like the others. I only gave them a 1 because they didn't have a 0. Don't waste your money or points.

"Don't unless you have too"

2.0

Very convenient right next to the hospital. For $150.00 a night this Holiday Inn was pretty run down and dirty. The breakfast was one of the worst ones we had while traveling and ended up eating elsewhere. The chairs in the dining area were cloth, stained and dirty - I don't even want to imagine what the prep area looked like. The rooms were not what we expect of the Holiday Inns (which are our usual stays) but after staying here - we avoided the Holiday Inns the next 2 wks. of our travel.

"This hotel needs to be remodeled."

4.0

This hotel is need of a remodel. The staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean. Complementary breakfast left a lot to be desired. The bathroom was small and the door blocked part of the vanity.
