"Expect to be disappointed"

1.0

I could see that this was once a nice town house, in an excellent location, however the owners have let it deteriorate. In the review book the reviews were excellent back in 2021, almost every review since 2023 was damaging.

On arrival the key box was jammed and owner was not helpful as he was 'out in a noisy environment' that Friday evening. Wifi did not work so unable to watch TV or do any business throughout my whole stay, which made the trip almost pointless. Owner did not response to my contacts. House is in a dead spot for my phone internet so could not even use hotspot. Bed extremely old and uncomfortable. Carpets dirty. Paint peeling off the walls throughout the house. Allocated car park was partly occupied by neighbour on arrival.

"Bad"

1.0

We stayed at this cottage for four days as a family—my partner, my son, and me—but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations, and we ended up leaving a night early due to the numerous issues we encountered. One of the biggest problems was that the WiFi didn’t work at all. We contacted the host on the first day, and while they initially said they would make some calls to fix it, they ignored all my messages after that. This was a major letdown, especially since there’s no phone signal in the area, leaving us completely cut off. My son relies on the internet for entertainment and communication, and without it, he really struggled. Whether it’s watching his favorite shows, playing games, or just winding down in the evenings, having no internet made things very difficult for him. This turned what should have been a relaxing break into a frustrating and isolating experience. Beyond the WiFi issue, the cottage had several other problems. The hoover didn’t have a charger, meaning we couldn’t keep the place clean. There was a noticeable damp problem, making the space feel uncomfortable, and the shower’s water pressure was extremely poor, making it difficult to wash properly. Another important thing to be aware of is the steep stairs, which could be dangerous if you’re bringing a child. Due to all of these issues, we decided to cut our stay short and leave a night early. The lack of response from the host, combined with the poor maintenance of the property, was really disappointing. I wouldn’t recommend staying here unless these problems are properly addressed.

The location is in the town centre and has free parking. Beds are comfortable. The house is clean and ideal for a short stay.

The wi-fi didn't work, which meant the Freeview TV also didn't work. The house requires a freshen up. There is some flaking and damaged paintwork in some rooms. The table is a problem when eating at it as you can't fit your legs under the table. The stairs to the upper room are different to negotiate.

"A cottage with lots of potential needing some TLC."

7.0

Lots of character and great location.

Uncomfortable double bed, lots of peeling walls from damp, only 1 pan in the kitchen and a fridge where you can’t really open it as it’s too big.

House was clean and warm and perfect for our family night stay !!

Couldn't unlock the front door ,and the shower temperature was difficult to regulate. Also could have used a door mat near the kitchen door as this was the only door for access and with poor weather made it impossible not to track dirt into the house.

"Pleasant"

6.0

Lounge room was nice and the TV had Netflix

Parking didn't exist because the person nextdoor took it, and then I got parked in across the road. Wasn't overly i.pressed witg the shower, but the bath looked good. Put my phone down before havi g a shower and by the time I was finishwd it was coverwd in paint specs. No washing powder for the washing machine, and the machine was the only reason I stayed.

"Disappointing"

4.0

Nicely decorated and in a good location

Paint peeling from the walls. Felt like a student house. Bathroom smelled. Kitchen and bathroom needed cleaning thoroughly, especially bathroom mirror. Broken twin bed. Double bed very hard. Not worth £160 unfortunately.

"Good place for a short stay and if minimal use of kitchen"

5.0

The location and parking were perfect

One of the single bed mattress was squeaky, you couldn't sit normally at the dining table due the low base, not enough cutlery (only three bowls, four forks etc. so you had to keep washing up if you wanted to use more). Also, could use a lick of paint on the walls.
