I don't understand the amazing reviews. Don't get me wrong, it's fine but it's nowhere near a 9.5. I would generally not book again. - the owners are friendly but we felt nowhere near "like home" like most reviews suggest. Same small talk as everywhere else in Sri Lanka ("where are you from", "how long in Sri Lanka", etc.) - breakfast very basic and worst in Sri Lanka in 2,5 weeks (again, it's fine, but not like the reviews suggest) - rooms are small. Like a meter around the bed so you can open a backpack/suitcase - bathroom very basic and either cold or (too) hot water

Beautiful villa, really close to Kabalana beach. Very tasty breakfast. Good vibes, good people.

Slightly intruding host.

Dilan and his family are the most charming and kind hosts you could hope for. They really made it a memorable few days in Ahangama. The rooms are spacious, clean, comfortable, and quiet. Breakfast is good and on one day we also had a home cooked lunch which was the best curry we had during our time in Sri Lanka. Our flight back home left very late and Janadu drove us to the airport, despite it meaning he wouldn't get home until 2am. The villa is just across the road from the beach where there is an excellent A frame reef break, a beach break, and plenty of board hire options.

Dilan and his wife treated my son and his friends like they were their own children. I felt they were in very caring hands. Their connection made the whole trip very special!

A Home Away from Home – Perfect for Solo Travelers! I traveled alone, but from the moment I arrived, I felt like I was staying with family. This isn’t just a guesthouse—it’s a home, and they welcome you like an old friend. The room was spotless, the AC worked perfectly, and I loved the little touches—like chilled glasses in the fridge, ready for a cold beer after a long day. But the real highlight? The food. Every single dish was homemade, bursting with authentic Sri Lankan flavors, and made with so much care. You won’t find anything more genuine than this. Beyond that, the kindness of the family running this place was something special. If there was anything I needed, they went out of their way to help—no hesitation, no fuss, just pure generosity. I’ve already recommended this place to friends, and I’ll keep doing so. If you’re looking for real hospitality, real food, and a place that feels like home, this is it. I’ll definitely be back!

The family is the best. You will feel part of them.

Great atmosphere and friendly host. We had a communal dinner with other guests which was good value and great fun. Nice outside space. Close to nice beach within walking distance.
