"Horrified and robbed with the deposit..."

Dear future guests of this house, please note the DEPOSIT WAS NEVER REFUNDED and NO DAMAGE CLAIMED. The booking process, as usual, was straightforward — but that’s where the positives end. The real shock came when the host suddenly demanded a £250 deposit. Yes, it was buried in the "important information" section, but even then, it was completely unclear what this money was actually for. Frankly, the property was in such poor condition it looked more like a house scheduled for demolition than a place to stay. Damaged walls, filthy flooring, stained carpets, a disgusting sofa — you name it, it was in disrepair. The dining chairs were actually dangerous — their backrests were barely attached. The kitchen was a health hazard, with grease on every surface and cabinet doors literally falling apart. The bed linens were stained and the pillows had a horrible smell. And that’s just scratching the surface. A few highlights: We received the access information a mere 23 minutes before check-in — that is not so nice to your guests. Compare this to previous private hosts who allowed access from early morning. The £250 deposit was never refunded — no explanation, no justification. The contact number listed on Booking was invalid. Yes, they reply to messages — but only to deliver a new round of excuses each time. Let me be clear: I understand a host’s desire to protect their property — that’s reasonable. But if you're not going to invest in maintaining a decent standard or insuring your property properly, don’t take money from guests under the guise of a "deposit" and then hold onto it without cause. That’s not protection — it’s exploitation.

"Safety and security thread"

Only location and free parking

It's a safety and security thread. Neighbourhood walking in back garden. My special needs som unable to sleep due to this reason whole night. The main entrance door doesn't have the locking knot. The sink was blocked, and there was no drainage working. The shower door doesn't have the handle to close and open. Panting hanging on very fragile nails, just touch and come down. All beds were not comfortable, and all duvet covers were dirty. In my view, it was a complete disaster to stay in this property. For advance payment, they hold on purpose and still not refund. Giving very stupid reasons.

Fairly central location to town

There was no electricity or internet. I had to clean up puddles of water in kitchen. Plug sockets were loose, pile of dirty laundry in kitchen cupboard. The telephone number given was unrecognisable. Managed to contact hours later through site. Owners came out and contacted Bt for internet. The cooker was tripping the electrics so it proved costly having to eat out. There was no blind or curtain for the downstairs bedroom, I was given a sheet from the laundry pile in the kitchen to cover it. Shower was old and temperature fluctuated between cold and burning hot. Two weeks later and several messages and they have ignored my requests for return of the £250 deposit I paid.

These people are scammers, please dont fall for it. They will ask for £250 deposit after payment and won't refund or reply emails after you've checked out. Also note that the phone number on their page is not genuine and you won't be able to reach them

"Disappointing"

House was clean and nicely presented. We arrived late, and the host was accommodating by allowing a late check-out, which we appreciated.

One of the bedrooms didn't have any blinds, which made it difficult to sleep due to early morning light. The biggest issue was with the deposit. The owner promised it would be returned within 5 working days, but it took over 3 weeks and several calls and messages to both Booking and the owner before we finally received it. This caused a lot of unnecessary stress and frustration. While the house itself was fine, the experience with deposit return was disappointing, and for that reason, I would not recommend this property.

"Pleasant"

Spacious house in quiet location.

Had to transfer a damage deposit and provide photo IDs by email for a property which wasn’t in great condition. Took very long to get the deposit back.
