The Hostel Stories, Varkala - Helipad Road

It was a great location and the beds had curtains, which isn’t a given in India.

"A Vibe You’ll Never Forget!" I stayed at The Hostel Stories in Varkala and honestly, it was one of the best hostel experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted with warm smiles and an atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home. The location is perfect — just a short walk to the beach, cafes, and the iconic Varkala cliff. The common areas are super chill, filled with hammocks, cozy seating, and great music always playing in the background. It’s the kind of place where you end up staying longer than planned because the vibe is just that good.

I really liked the location of the hostel. Its very close to the north cliff but still located at quiet location. Grocery shop is nearby & you can also cook something in community kitchen. Being a solo female traveler i felt hostel stories very safe & comfortable. Host Pintu is very friendly & helpful :) I will come back soon.

The stay was super comfortable, and the location is absolutely spot on—just a short walk from Varkala Cliff. The caretaker is cheerful and always ready to help, which made things even better. Special thanks to Shafeeq—he was incredibly helpful and guided me well while settling in. An awesome place to stay, whether you're traveling solo or with a group of friends. I strongly recommend it.

Loved everything about the property. Staff is bedy friendly and the host Raman makes sure you sre being included in all hostel group plans. Definitely recommend all solo travellers to book with them

This was my second time staying at Hostel Stories in Varkala, and just like the first, it was nothing short of marvellous! Returning here felt like coming back to a familiar, warm, and welcoming space where every corner has a story to tell. The location is another highlight. Just a short walk away from the cliff and the beach, you get the best of both worlds – peace and accessibility. The sunsets here are something else, and watching them with new friends from the hostel terrace is now a core memory for me.

In Varkala's heart, where the sea sings low, I found a place where good vibes flow. The Hostel Stories, calm and kind, A little world that eases the mind. The host, a soul so warm and bright, Turned every day into pure delight. The beach was near, the breeze so free, Whispers of waves, calling to me. The rooms were lovely, the vibe was true, With laughter shared and skies so blue. And oh, the food! A tasty grace, A comfort in every bite I’d embrace. It wasn’t just a place to stay, But memories made along the way. A story told in sunsets gold— A piece of peace my heart still holds.

2 massive cockroaches in the bathroom when we arrived.. The bathroom window had no mossie net over the window so anything could (and did) come in. There were many black hairs on the wall in the bathroom (we're not black haired). Bathroom needed a thorough clean!

The host, Pintu was so warm and welcoming. Extremely polite, always had a smile on his face. Helped us out with any information we required regarding kayaking, best beaches to visit, etc. The hostel is also beautifully decorated. Extremely chilled out vibe and a great set of hostel mates who were very welcoming as well. You should definitely check this hostel out if you are looking for a laid back, chill and colorful environment. Truly a great stay. Felt like home.
