Receptionist very pleasant. Close to cliffs and sea. Use of communal fridge and kettle.

Electicity cut out fairly regularly. Standard of cleanliness was exceptionally poor. Fridge and worksurfaces filthy. ( We have stayed in a number of hostels/residencies) nothing as dirty. Lacked hostel atmosphere, probably due to being low season. Bed sheets uncomfortable: synthetic material.

Mithra here, We were 3 girls travelling for the first time to varkala for 5 days and we didn’t wanna leave . We never expected such high levels of warmth and hospitality from anyone here. Our very own raman bhai and pintu made us feel right at home 🏠 ! As girls, our first priority is our safety. Hostel stories is THE BEST CHOICE. Not only did they make us feel welcome, we felt extremely safe and comfortable. From the common area to their fully equipped kitchen and full time working AC and also the market which is only 100m from the hostel. And looking at the best views, just 250m from the hostel, this HOSTEL is placed at the best location. Amenities at the very best, good balance of quiet and vibe. Other than wanting to extend the stay, there is no reason to miss this experience and hostel 🥹🥹. We shall definitely miss everyone and this wonderful experience is gonna always be with us.

Leaving this place was the hardest part, as it had been our home, filled with affection, cherished memories, and wonderful new friendships. It gave us the best first experience of hostel life, making it truly unforgettable and leaving a lasting impact on our hearts.

The Hostel Stories in Varkala is an incredibly friendly place to stay if you're visiting Varkala. I’ve been there for three weeks, and from the very first day, I felt at home—even though it was my first time in India! The hostel has a beautiful garden with hammocks, chairs, and fruit trees, always filled with good vibes and friendly people to chat with. The atmosphere is both calm and welcoming, making it easy to connect with other travelers while also having space to relax on your own. If you're traveling solo, I promise you won’t feel lonely! There’s also a lovely terrace where you can practice yoga early in the morning, hang your clothes to dry, or simply lie back and watch the stars at night. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and the hostel is just a short walk from the South Cliff, where you’ll find the amazong ocean, cafés, restaurants, and all the shops you might need. A huge thank you to Pintu and all the staff at the hostel—you made my stay unforgettable!
