Canfranc Estación, a Royal Hideaway Hotel - Gran Lujo

It’s an amazing story about the hotel and train station.

Difficulty finding how to continue on my journey across the Pyrenees. The staff should know how to get into France as the bus station is less than 100 ft from the Hotel. Bus or Taxi is the only to get across the Border to France.

Das Hotel hat unglaublich schönes Flair. Unser Zimmer war top ausgestattet und ruhig. Das Frühstücksbuffet sehr reichhaltig und das Personal sehr freundlich.

Das bei einem solchen Zimmerpreis der Wellnessbereich extra zu zahlen ist, hat uns schon gewundert.

Very well-trained staff, decor is beautiful and really uplifts all common areas (train wagon restaurants included). Location surrounded by mountains is gorgeous and inspiring, and we greatly enjoyed exploring the Hecho Valley while based there. Building itself is also beautiful and has an interesting story. Room had a lot of natural light, and the walk-in shower (a request we made specifically and was conplied with, which we appreciated) was one of the best we have ever had. Restaurants are very good, the El Internacional, 1928 and La Biblioteca staff were all excellent (we didn'thave the opportunityto eat at the Art Deco)..

Room had two twin beds joined together instead of a single one. We were instructed to use the Do Not Disturb buttons to identify if the room was ready to be cleaned or not, on our first day we turned the DND button on, and when we came back from breakfast before going out there was a person cleaning the room - we tried to enable the button again after that, but it seemed to not work (the button to clean the room still worked), so it could be a malfunction, but from then on we started placing the sign on the knob just to make sure. Breakfast was not up to par specially with respect to fresh fruits. We also had a group checking-in at the same time as we did, we were on the line but got cut by someone from the group - when asked to reception about it, they mentioned that one of them was dedicated to checking this group in, would suggest doing this with a group in a separate room to avoid possible confusion. Overall I would consider this a good 4-star experience, but don't think it's at the level of 5-star hotels we have used in the past.
