Sweet Home Tourist Rest, Cooking Classes & Tours

Everything was clean and tidy. Food was delicious. The host offered us free tuktuk from city center when we arrived which was really pleasant. We also borrowed a scooter so we could explore the surroundings.

The accommodation was so well equipped and spacious, just like a small apartment. Although we never got to meet our host, he made sure all our needs were met and kept in contact regularly. Breakfast was amazing and plentiful, served at our own dining table in the apartment.

Not a big negative, but the accommodation was quite a way from town but it is so easy to arrange transport so really not a problem. Advisable to book all facilities (i.e. tours and cooking class) in advance.

The accomodation was really nice, clean and comfortable. Great breakfast. Hosts are very kind and helpful. They offer also transport options, cooking classes and bike rental.

The family were so lovely; polite, friendly and helpful. Their cooking was outstanding - probably the best food we’ve had in Sri Lanka. We were able to rent bicycles from here which was great as we used them to take a tour of the ancient city. The room had amazing AC which was greatly needed as Anurahadpura is HOT. The bed was very comfortable It was nice having a shared balcony and dining / living space - there are only 2 other rooms that you share this space with and for the time we were there we only met 1 other couple for about 30mins before we went out so it felt like we had it all to ourselves! The family really kindly let us keep our bags at the Homestay all day when we checked out that day which meant we could explore on the bicycles without having the burden of carrying heavy backpacks all day. It’s in a great location to cycle to the ancient city. C cafe round the corner from the Homestay has “highland milk chocolate” in the glass bottle - if you don’t know what this is yet you MUST go and try it! It’s hard to find in Sri Lanka but it’s a classic!!! Tastes great on a hot day (I.E. every day). Also they do good street food too. But if you’re after a big home cooked meal DEFINITELY get the food at the Homestay. It’s the best!!!

The bathroom was good but unfortunately it’s a shared bathroom with the 2 other rooms which is perfectly fine except we didn’t feel we could keep our toothbrushes in there and there wasn’t any soap for washing our hands. Although I’m sure we could have asked for some, we just kept forgetting to and used our own instead (which meant bringing it to and from our room).

Aircon in the bedroom, cooking class and cleanliness of the house and facilities. Owners of the home stay were so lovely and welcoming. We loved our stay.

Very large space, clean and quit location. Very nice host. Also good dinner and breakfast!

Excelent place to stay. The hospitality is amazing, very nice hosts. And finally, the homemade food from Masha and Irish... no words, best we've tasted in Sri Lanka!

Nilu and her wife are really nice and they help us in everything we needed. We felt really like we were at home…. The breakfast is really good and I recommend the cooking class, exceptional!!!
