The charm, the grounds and the helpful staff and well-equipped rooms. It was especially interesting to see all the old implements incorporated into the design.

Just a note. If you are a tall person the old mill may have you ducking through doorways. Parking a big car in the lot takes some skill.

The staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. Our room was very clean and tastefully decorated. In general, the hotel itself was very authentic as it was an old mill building. The dinners and breakfasts were very delicious. We loved it! There are not many activities to do near the hotel. You can visit the nearby villages by car.

The sound of water, the sense of it and the beautiful setting by the river. It is of the best kind of Ryokan sensual experience in Japan. So comfortable. Caring team throughout. Personally over the years I have come to love the area and this hotel is so well positioned. The restaurant is an experience too.

This is both an hotel and a dining experience. You probably need the to take in both, to enjoy the whole, but at a cost. Personally I found it okay but there is no restaurant ‘discount’ from being a resident that I can see.
