"Great short term stay on State."

8.0

This is a basic hostel in a pod formation. It was great that there was a sliding door on my pod that I could close for some privacy. Not all have this feature, so ask for one of those. Its in the best location in downtown SB on State. I stayed here due to the confluence of UCSB Parent weekend and a half marathon which pushed motels in the area over $500/night. If you need a place to just rest your head for the night its a descent option. But remember you are in a hostel. People were very respectful though, and the staff were fantastic.

Its a hostel. If you know that going in, you'll be fine. Set that expectation. But it was clean, and staff were accommodating and helpful.

"Excellent facility and bad staffs."

4.0

Facility is excellent. Designed carefully, minimalistic but sufficient. Everything is maintained well and clean.

Both staffs have their own problems. The girl working remotely is extremely rude. The guy on the property doesn’t care about customers and irresponsible. Actually both of them don’t care about customers.

Noise and no skirt or anything for privacy, the AC was off all night and it was hot, noise from the door slamming and no policy for any snoring sleeper, The kitchen and laundry was a mess, i did not like to light on and off schedule as it can be solve by adding something to cover up the bed, the bed was not the most comfortable

"Last minute, solo stay in Santa Barbara"

10.0

In a safe centralized area on State Street in Santa Barbara. Next to a very nice shopping and food. Secure entrance with a code is needed which keeps you feeling safe. Very neat, very clean and quiet. From beds with your name written over it, welcoming you, to shared kitchen Facilities that are clean and beautiful bathrooms with showers. Lights out at 10, but you can still be on your phone with the ringer on silent in your pod. Lights don’t go back on until 10 AM if you wanna sleep in a little.

The only thing that is not too convenient is you have to park a little distance away but it’s not that far at all. Pretty much $20 overnight parking.

"Crash pad for backpacker."

6.0

For back packers & travelers without a car, it’s a great central location.

The pods are clever disguised with artificial leaves, but a shutter or curtain type that allows for complete privacy is better. The laundry area needs to stop after 10PM until 8AM for sleeping purposes. Needs shower door or curtain. Adequate for the price but no thrill. I’d delete the claim of “first hostel” on State St, for “only hostel” on State Street.

It looks as if it hasn’t been cleaned since they opened. There is no privacy at all and too much noise and light since it’s one open space and bed and reception and so on are in the same area. The door didn’t lock the first night and we found out there were complains before we arrived and it wasn’t fixed. There are homeless in the street and some where even looking inside (via the huge window) so we were scared of them trying to come in at night. The door lock was fixed for the second night but still… I wouldn’t recommend this place at all unless you really can’t afford anything else.. and it should be way cheaper than it is.
