Treetops - Sleeps 8 entire house private parking close to town centre and stadium

Easy self check-in, very comfortable property, great price. The landlord advised us the day of the stay that towels would not be provided - I was not aware of this before we left and had already arrived in Wigan, so they kindly agreed to supply my friend and I each a towel for our stay.

No towels provided so need to bring your own. Couldn't find any bags to use for the bin so had to go to a shop to obtain a carrier bag to use for our rubbish.... There was also a really unpleasant smell when I opened the back door in the morning, like old bins, but I also noticed this smell later in the day at a nearby location - so I think this was the general area, and not the property in particular.

The bedding was clean and the house was spacious enough.

It wasn’t very clean, but not too bad either. There was a lot of rubbish in the back garden and some in the front garden. There were no keys to the back doors( kitchen door and door from the conservatory), which meant there was only one way out of the house, this could be an issue in case of fire.

It was in a good location, and the beds were comfy.

No toilet paper, texted the host who said she'd drop some round in 20mins. However, she took almost an hour. The kitchen and bathroom were very dirty and cluttered, filled with hosts possessions. Not enough stuff in the kitchen to cook/prepare anything (for example, had washing-up liquid but not sponge), and what was left was dirty. No towels provided, including no tea towel to dry your hands in the kitchen. Wallpaper peeling off the walls in every room. The garden was a tip- with things just seemingly dumped in there. We understand this is a budget stay, however it was subpar- needs a lot of work and a good tidy/redecorate, but has potential to be a good holiday home.

Bed was comfy

Very dated. Rubbish was literally piled up and overflowing in the garden which looked a total mess Lawn needed mowing. Thkfully we didn't get there until 10 pm and left by 9.30am the following day. Wouldn't have liked to stay any longer as it didn't have a nice welcoming feel at all

The place was vile. Dirty and old. Nothing nice about it. Was offered the option to leave early and get a refund but never got it.

Lack of honesty by the owners

Very good value - we stayed as a family of four with two teenage kids. Would have had to pay for two rooms in a hotel. Nicely presented property with comfy lounge, Netflix and good kitchen facilities. Bedrooms very comfy and spacious and the house is in a quiet road. You'll just need to remember to bring towels, a tea towel and loo roll. Everything else provided inc. good wifi. 10 min drive to the M6 (good stop off for travel) and shops, supermarkets and takeaways all a short drive away. Great communication from host and easy access. Definitely recommended. So much nicer to have a home than a hotel room. Thanks for a great stop over for our family.

This is clearly a well-loved family home, and although it's not a luxury home, it's exceptional value for money, offering everything you need in a central location, with a good advance warning that we'd need to bring our own towels to keep the rental cost down.

Perhaps the owners could offer towels for a small additional fee.
