Sapiens home - Weligama bay

View from the property was excellent, rooms and bathrooms were very spacious and nicely furnished, it was nice to have a pool. The jewellery workshop was a lot of fun.

The property is a little out of the way and not the nicest walk, but tuktuks do pass regularly. The ownership is still relatively new and from we could tell there’ll be more activities etc in the near future, as well some kinks that need ironing out. Other guests have mentioned that there’s not much seating around the pool - we would echo this and add that a parasol or two would be great!

This place is truly the best place to stay. Sapiens Weligama is nestled in stunning natural surroundings, offering complete tranquility while still being close to the city. We initially planned a short stay but ended up staying for two months because, after just one hour, it already felt like home. The staff are incredibly welcoming and kind—genuinely some of the warmest people you can imagine. From the manager to the kitchen staff and those who keep everything spotless, they make you feel like family because they truly care about your well-being. This isn’t just a hotel—it’s a home in paradise. The WiFi is excellent, the beds are comfortable, and the pool with its river view is absolutely breathtaking. I have nothing but praise for this amazing place! We will miss you so much, Menoj, Janith, Kalhadi, Arincini, Kavin, and Hasha (sorry if we misspelled your names! 😄). I liked everything.

It was an exceptional stay. The staff in particular was so welcoming and ensured that we were comfortable. I was travelling with my parents (both senior citizens) and we were all taken care of so well. The breakfast was fantastic and their chefs are so thoughtful with dietary requests. I am really grateful for everyone who took care of us - Janith, Manoj, Achini and Kalhari. Thank you for your hospitality!

Nothing as such that we didn't like. The rooms are really spacious and have a minimal design, which is great. My only suggestion would be to make it a bit more furnished and add amenities like a TV in the room as well.

Wonderful place with wonderful staff!! Clean, great view to the river, great pool, great breakfast. The staff were so nice to us that we didnt want to leave!!! Highly recommended!!

18 minutes walk from surfing beach 5 minutes with tuk tuk

Beautiful location, next to the river. Was lucky to get a nice sunset. A bit away from busy roads so peaceful and quiet. Surrounded by nature and monkeys. Nice and relaxed atmosphere in the hotel. Beautiful communal area where you can easily hang out and relax. Wifi works really well which is a plus for Sri Lanka. Very friendly staff, manager is very responsive and ready to help. They have a jewellery atelier upstairs and you can take a course which is really nice. The owner recently changed and you see that they are changing things, steady but slowly getting there. Would recommend this place and come again.

Due to the construction of the building, it can get a bit noisy as soon as people are in the hallway. Overall it didn't bother me too much as during night time was quiet. Some extra options for food would be a plus but already a nice menu. Not a minus point but just be aware, you take this spot because it is quiet so do realise that you might need a tuktuk to get to restaurants etc. During the day manageable to go by foot.

Sapiens is a haven! Away from the crowds, calm quiet and peaceful. On the river with a pool and wildlife everywhere. The staff are super helpful and got me a bike the first day which means I feel like a local. Breakfast is delicious and the pool is perfect for a lazy day or post surf dip to cool off. I can highly recommend staying here.

Great Stuff who is always there for you. Nice and clean rooms and a good Sri Lankan Breakfast. Highly Recommended!!
